  1. Re:DB vendor more at fault - how bout the DBA on MS SQL Server Worm Wreaking Havoc · · Score: 1

NO - if this were a fair analogy, this would be compared to moving into a house and leaving all of the windows open, but only closing a window after you realize that your neighbors have been using this window to pilfer your cheesy poofs. While still leaving the rest of the windows open.

    If you're infected - you're a tool.

How many of these infections also had SAs with blank passwords

At least the ^auto makers^ shipped the car in a Semi Locked down state - and only opening the ports that need access [hood/doors/trunk] (though there is much general havox that can be had with just playing under the chassis.)

"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed weak and weary.

  3. Price Slashing on Microsoft Loses $177m on Xbox in Three Months · · Score: 1

Wouldn't M$ be able to cut prices on Windows & Office by 50%? Still making enough profit to feed their other divisions. And making more money because users are more open to these lower prices?? I'd be much more open to upgrading my existing desktops if the software wasn't so expensive.

  4. Re:Hook, line and stinker on Windows Longhorn Screenshots Available Online · · Score: 1

Um - if they have access to Longhorn betas, why are they still using office 2k? If this is a Longhorn BETA - why does it have IE 6.05 SP1 - why would there be a SP for software that hasn't gone gold yet. IE6.05 isn't even gold yet - and will probably be IE7 or IE.NET. For the screen that shows IE6.05 SP1 - the IE minimize/close/restore buttons are too high - if you're going to fake the buttons - at least line them up before you publish your fake. Media player is still v8 - okay, v9 isn't gold yet. Oh - my favorite - SYSTEM TAB : Microsoft Longhorn XP Media Center Edition Version 2003 and the title logo shows Widnows XP Media Center Edition and a few Widnows Longhorn XP Professional yeah - this just screams fake Which product are you trying to fake XP or Longhorn

  5. Butter me up a tablet pc on Windows XP Tablet PC Edition · · Score: 1

Who cares how long it takes to get nix onto one of these machines

How long until the nix users realize this is just a stupid piece of hardware - the cool part is the outstanding handwriting recognition. Hardware vendors were never able to successfully get a tablet pc off the ground because the software behind the hardware was never sufficient.

How long until someone gets recognition software of this quality running on any version of nix - prolly never.

How long until http://www.fingerworks.com helps put out a tablet pc? That would be cool - I won't need a keyboard for the three finger salute. Mice are the work of the devil.

The magnetic screen is better than pressure sense because it is more resilient to wear and tear - dropping the tab is probably not healthy for it.

The magnetic screen is better than static boards because they are less/not sensitive to dirty screens. Heck I could butter up my tablet and still annotate my notes. Mmmmm butter.

In Chapter 6, ... I wasn't sure about the stuff on PDF forms (does anyone actually use these for web input?) but the advice on HTML forms was great

I work with process automation and we occasionally get clients who are using Online PDFs - bleh. My favorite is on of our customers with Online PDFs - when the forms are submitted, they are printed out from a server - and then users manually enter the data into databases.
