I finally paid for a legit DAW (at the cost of a few hundred pounds) last year after 20 years of using a copy of it only to find that the legit version is every bit as buggy as the torrented version. Wish I hadn't bothered.
Been visiting here since 1998 (spring, so not quite 20 years sadly) when I had a much lower UID, lost to the winds with an old work related email.
Sadly, this place has lost its soul and has really become a cesspit of US politics where it was once a great place to talk about news for nerds. So much hateful AC'ing which seemed like a good idea originally but is now a stupid mechanism.
I'm done, sad to say goodbye but time for this place to die. Sadly, it's unlikely in the current climate that anything like the original would even exist now, let alone take its place.
I'm an EE, and love technology but the Internet has turned to fucking shit and much of it needs pulling the plug on now, permanently.
Good luck and much love.
I see your point but it wasn't clear the main user group would be a Facebook based forum at the time. There is a technical non Facebook forum but it's a bit dry.
End of 2008 for me. Recently used it through my partners account to see a particular group page for a recent Kickstarter I backed and was at first reconsidering joining again, but after only a short time I realised it was not a good idea.
This is true. But could you imagine writing a game like Doom 2016 in bare metal assembler? Writing a Commodore 64 game in the 80's in ASM was feasible due to the system limit being ~64k. Of course, this doesn't just apply to game code bases. Modern libraries ('standing on the shoulder of giants', so to speak) allow for modern software development to be done in a reasonable time frame (with the benefits of portability, etc.), albeit at the expense of bloat.
Recruiters (in general, I have known a couple of good ones) are in my opinion the absolute scum of the earth, complete parasites. They rarely have a clue what they are talking about in terms of tech skills, and will try and shoehorn you into any job as long as they get their commission. Just a useless middleman.
Well, all I know is it is officially called a strabismus clinic. Though I have suffered this condition all my life I am only now truly getting to what the real problem is so thanks for your post,
I played PLENTY of Tetris over the years and it did nothing for my lazy eye (right eye went inwards as child -> corrective surgery -> now goes out). What has worked is a 6 monthly botox injection (free, thank you NHS) into the appropriate eye muscle at Moorfields eye hospital in London. I could still elect for corrective surgery but they try you out with Botox first to see if you are likely to develop double vision, in which case the surgery would then have to be reversed. I understand the treatment was started in the UK by a Moorfields eye doctor some 30 years ago when he smuggled some botox back from San Franscisco..? To be honest I'm surprised more people don't know about this treatment - Russell Howard (UK comedian) bitches about his lazy eye all the time - get yourself down to Moorfields and have a student doctor poke a needle in your eye muscle and stir it round for two minutes.. Lovely stuff! Captcha: Unseen
This is exactly what we wanted - a common sense approach to Twitter messages. Though I am not a twitterer myself, the fact a guy can have his life ruined by posting a joke tweet is exactly what this is about, NOT being knee-jerk, as they have been in the past. In other words his is a *good thing*. 'Measured' in this context means to apply more common sense to these situations.
MATLAB had a free student edition back when I was studying EE (~20 years back), I don't know if this is still the case. Slightly crippled W.R.T. the paid version, but not anything you would miss as an undergrad. Octave is a free version which is *roughly* equivalent to MATLAB, I used this just a couple of years back (when all the MATLAB licenses were being used up by co-workers).
Interesting - I've never heard of that before but sounds plausible. Still doesn't answer why me and OP have never heard the sound elsewhere, and DC-DC converters are used all over the place. Maybe it was just that specific part number.

The maximum five games a year was the reason why Konami created the Ultra Games imprint to get an extra 5 titles a year out,
If you really agreed with me you should show some balls and not posted as AC.

How is life completely and utterly off the grid? Who supplies your internet connection?
Now no-ones going to fuck me.
With your future as a (seemingly) keen VR dev being determined by the success of VR as a whole, do you not have more than just a bit of bias here?

Can I see it? .... no. One of my favourite Simpsons sketches ever..
AKA 'Tell it to the judge'.
After I tried to post I realised I wasn't logged in, so the text about the captcha remained after. Cheers, Richard

Sorry that you posted AC. Seem like someone I could get along with.
Buy a second and third PS3 cheapskate.
If you have to ask on /., you really shouldn't be here in the first place.

'their' dammit.
I only hope they don't claim that there will only be a market for 5 computers again as there founder said way back when..
with my reading-fu, but I SWEAR I first parsed that as 'Cisco rumoured to be selling Kidneys'.. I mean, they really stooped low this time..
