I guess you do not have time to test Office really good. However you turn around OpenOffice does make you finish job much sooner than M$.
I use Office on a daily routine, and to admit at first I was missing some things. Then I found out that this things are not missing, but hidden. As soon you come to point where they could be used, they pop up. Much better than word or excel that throw everything in your face.
I've been using M$Office and never got use more than 15% eventhough I wanted (either thing is not working or is made too stupid to be used).
The moment I started to use OpenOffice I was using about 2-3% of functions. In just two months I've come to a phase that M$ user could only dream on. Office can be fun.
Wouldn't it be more simple to apply your self to mailing lists that are interesting to you. I'm doing that, it works.
Apply to mailing lists of projects that you use to be informed of project updates, apply to major security site news for new security holes. Reconect to SMS on your phone and here is your reminder.
But your suggesting of self executable self implantable update files is bad. Admin *must* be present when update is in progress. It is even more preffered that admin is in charge of that update if something goes wrong.
Denied? Not at all! If everybody buys it.:-) No illegal copies. My guess is that every windows user has legal adobe acrobat (not reader) that legally purchased:-)

I'm just lowering my karma down to hell, so I guess I'm a troll. And I enjoy it.
Correction! OO starts slower, but works faster. No contest. Try to make a calculation between tables in a word document that automaticaly changes graph. OLE sucks, doesn't print well and it's heavy to form one OLE object to more than one page. Try to reform pages and tables after you formated it, OO rocks (link text frames, table headers) no reformatting. Excel, for one page documents or on screen calculations > Well, in other case SUCKS. Powerpoint, too expensive product and not really usefull. Any M$ Office document with more than 30 pages and few pictures >> Print all pages:-) Doesn't work
PS files?? God you are a rocket scientist. Printing ps files, create a PS printer to file and print. Automatic convert to pdf out of system without buying acrobat.
"Divx play - Used for the illegal distribution of Intellectual Property and Child Pornography" That's what you do
"Internet apps - Nobody uses FSP any more, unless they're interested in Child Pornography. Everything else is handled just fine by Windows." Guess that's why I'm on slashdot pissing you off
Open Office is fine to get your job done.

Hey, what is my desktop? what do you think. Whole accounting for my company is linux based. I use gnome. KDE it ain't bad but gnome is my better
Server based? Yes. Desktop based? Yes. Try to print pdf out of windows. Divx play? Way better. Internet apps. Way better. Office? Just works better. Open office is what I use. M$Office lacks of features I need....
So if I'm setting up servers and making money with a little coding. That's positive. Ain't it. Oh, yeah! I'm not giving my earnings to M$. Twice positive.
No, solution doesn't work. Tryed it. I would need some technical support for some questions. 1.How could I print font kernings correctly. 2.Is system crash bug or feature 3.Where is your real work? :-)
Gaming sucks, slower on 3D than 98, when real distance is involved. When keyboard and mouse is used for movements, movements lock by 80% of the games I played. Don't play no more. Killed my will to play.
Printing sucks. Kerning of fonts is not right. Font weight is not symetric to screen, L has thiner lines than M and so on and on.
Desktop is slow and ughly. It was already, but XP done really succesful job to slow down to level when you need new faster computer. (I would bought it but that was one of the fastest notebooks on the market)
Documents made on 98 or 2000 opened in XP just aren't the same on XP. Font kerning trouble. I just moved my documents to linux and open office. even though I've been unfortunatelly bought a licence for Office 2000, after that I found out Open Office is working well.
Explorer is freezing while loading pages (can moe other windows, not the one that loads).
System not usable without other software.
Outlook is a virus nest.
Networking is bad, also lack of protocols. No real support from Microsoft side. Knowledge base sucks.
System still freezes too much.
Too expensive.
Too fucked up license.
Too closed.
Must admit though, MICROSOFT SOLITAIRE RULES

I'm Open Source programmer. And I'm paid well, in fact much better than I was paid in those sorry times of my proprietary coding. While in that sorry days I've had only a few customers, now this number is much larger, at least 12x. Most of my customers are your type of Company B. My Company A is developing software, that they combine with their software. Yes, they have code access, everybody has, but if you would think a little you'd know that it's much easier to implement function somebody else wrote, than correcting that same source alone. It's cheaper also.
So in a way I'm providing services for them. By carefully selecting bussines model and license you're protected from exploiting. You know, GPL isn't only Open Source license. But by giving some part GPL you can easy gain customers for your work, and customers are protected well since they've got access to source code.
You've got it right! You just wrote the funniest thing I've read on./ in six months.
Read as "software price to hardware price comparision". Then you'll get it. Windows now costs less than PC, if it would turn out different, and it is turning (prices go lower) Windows would be more expensive than PC. Handhelds are in that position already. As it concerns proprietary software development and commercials, they have their own costs that must be covered out of reselling that product or by selling services.
Go dig your brain out off your ass and then post FUD, maybe you'll succed to post something smarter than that.
Godness gracious! You're right, this guy just became a rocket engineer while playing pacman
