Have you ever checked the profitability of private healthcare? It is in a huge boom right now so there is you answer of where all the money is going. Some private healthcare CEOs bonus.
The US has healthcare costs nearly double the next first world country and it was that way before Obamacare.

Private healthcare is the villain you are looking for.
kurt sutter is lying. Money does not get back to the content creators, it goes to middle men and movie studio CEOs. When you start looking into the details you see hollywood accounting is letting these leeches steal legally from those that create content. It is well understood that music bands don't make their money from the sell of their music, but mostly from their live shows. So where does all that money go? Not to the content creators. This is an old dying business model that kurt sutter is clinging to and I am glad is changing.
that won't stop it either. music and movie companies changing their business model to acknowledge current technology would. People will pay a reasonable price for content make it more easy than pirating. The mpaa and riaa would rather have perceived control instead of make money like moving to a Valve Steam model.
Magically, all the ISPs in Austin started rolling out high speed internet when Google Fiber came to Austin, TX. I expect the only reason that Google is able to do this is they have enough weight to work the political process. I do not trust ISPs to server their Customers any more than the minimum based on this evidence alone.
There is almost no barrier for entry into the music business and no one knows this better than the music companies. They care more about control than profitability, but their grasp of music has slipped. They don't even realize the internet has given them the mortal blow yet.
Why is no one trying to put a check on the source of the problem and stop the endless prices hikes from universities? They have no incentive to be price competitive as students don't really understand what they are signing up for with loans and will pay whatever the university asks.
It is a red flag when anyone presents their view and then refuse to allow any other theories to be discussed. And that is exactly what creationists are doing with natural selection being taught in schools.
How do you get people to vote against their own interests? Wedge issues. IMHO, the true gop agenda is to push as much money to rich people as possible at the expense of everyone else and the only way to do that is by courting the crazies.
they are going to lose a lot of people like digg did when they rolled out their redesign. I wonder why they are ignoring this self inflicted threat to their profits.
Google Fiber has come to two US cities. People should be asking how to get it rolled out faster in other cities or how to get other companies that won't throttle to setup shop
To Slashdot's credit they are not just forcing the change on everyone all at once and refuse to change it back, but it is certainly not looking good in the face of all the feedback they have already received. If Digg is any lesson you can lose all your readers over night and they won't come back, ever.
That is another way of saying no one cares about your data as much as you do. And I believe after the money has been made off "the cloud" that a new push for building your own safe servers will come. I see it as a cycle from mainframes to PC and cloud back to private servers, etc.
every major blunder (me, vista, win8) weakens microsoft's position. They add up and I think eventually will open the door for them to be brushed aside.
I wonder if the president or feinstein understand that they are losing people's trust and they are now more scary. And it looks like they are willing to act on this.
If people want to get the NSA reigned in they they should start now making this a big deal for the next election. It does two things. It will make sure the issue does not go away and force it to be an issue for Senate and House elections as well.

when you say shareholder you mean rich people.
the problem is that it is easy to replace a worker than to change companies.

evolution has evidence.

The fact that tesla is doing something like this really only acknowledges that getting stranded somewhere is a real problem they have no solution for.
I have to agree. A lot of the UI features they are adding appear to be chasing a user that does not want them?
action comes when there is support. Saying nothing will come of this is the same as accepting nsa overreach.
expect remember Joseph McCarthy's downfall? Once public opinion turned he went down in flames. This has very similar parallels.

don't underestimate the power of a wedge issue.
the US is earning that title through a lot of its actions.
