A company I worked at used a different company to run IT and in the contract they had a clause about 99.9999% uptime. What happened when they took over is that you were not allowed to do anything to the servers without 5 managers approving. Nothing ever got changed on the ones they managed and it effectively killed using them for work.
Nope, in recent history it has been the transfer of weath from the middle class to the super rich. Wealth is not a zero sum game, but the 1% are pushing gov policies like it is and this is the result.

I wonder if this idiot general realize people are beginning to be more afraid of the nsa than terrorists. And I would say the level of incompetence the nsa has shown in being able to manage this enormous power with a single individual able to walk off with their intelligence crown jewels indicates no one should have these types of power. More innocent people are at risk from nsa and government incompetence than anything they think they are doing. The tsa is security theater not adding any actual security, and now the nsa is now is showing a level of intelligence theater whose only value may be their agents abusing to spy on their girlfriends.
There is lots of integration, but lets be honest. A site you have to use over and over in order to get your insurance ordered is going to suck and I personally would not use it.
Most of the time I find that many Developers want to be handed a perfect spec and let to go into a basement and code it. The real world does not work like this and I find the best work comes when the guy who will be writing the software actually collects the requirements and does a good job of that including a plan of how to test the code. I think part of the problem is pretending requirements are some uncertain quantity, when they are usually very straight forward to collect if you are willing to do the work.
it is terrible. All the fancy animations and washed out unreadable color scheme make me long for the crap that was Office 2010. And I thought it could not get any worse than not being able to find what you need in the contextual ribbon tool bar and renaming everything to be "different".
I think the bigger story is that there appears to be a mental illness epidemic, but all the resources are going into militarization of communities. At some point we are going to have to wake up and start to work on the hard problem of mental illness.
Amazon stock is up almost 50% this year and ebay stock is down 5%. Stock market does not mirror performance, but antidotally I stopped using of both ebay and paypal due to their abusive practices. IMHO, they are a corpse like microsoft that is eating itself.
a software company that cannot collect requirements or verify requirements should not be building software. Domain specific software architectures, use cases, uml, it is not even that hard to do.
don't worry, demographics trends that cannot be change mean that Texas will turn Dem in 10 or 20 years. There may be new morons in charge, but it won't be any of the ones in this current group.
One of the most helpful things I ever realized is that Design and Management think in terms of yes / no and Engineers think in terms of shades of gray. It will work vs it will work to "x" sigma are very different things and you have to have some skill to translate.
if the nsa did not have such overreaching programs to spy on people they shouldn't be then they would also have a lot less problems. Instead of curtaining nsa programs they will just plow on do some hand waving that everything is ok.
I'd take the government managing healthcare (and they are doing it fairly well and better than the private sector for Medicaid) than a private health insurance company death panel deciding it is too costly to keep me alive. And that is happening to people today for relatively reasonable cancer and other treatments.
IMHO it is another example of a mentally ill person that did not get the help he needed. Budgets for mental health programs have been slashed for decades and are less than bare bones in favor for useless programs like the tsa.
I have yet to hear one reasonable argument why the FISA court is needed at all. Get rid of it.
problem solved.

statistics don't backup your statement that US health are is good. It ranks pretty crappy as far as first world countries go.

he was in charge of MSOffice so it will get a ribbon toolbar and be completely unusable.
it is already over, it is just how it is going to happen and if the tv and cable networks will get completely left out of the money.

metallica sued their fans.
sheeze, how hard is it to realize your product does not do what people need and start a redesign project to go out and fix it?
...
domain specific software architecture or something

cops are public servants with powers they can abuse. Keeping tabs on them is check and balance.
why would cops think that they would be excluded in a police state?

they are not adding any actual security and then they will all be perfectly safe
