    I predict a failed future as soon as someone models all the terrorists attacks that can kill thousands of people for less than 1000$ in such buildings. Imagine that ventilation comes down for just 5 minutes (or get a funny additive). Even in the subway, that's the thing I fear the most...

    Well what about long-term services like Life Insurance? A service like that would need to keep your Name, Birthday, Social Security Number, address, next of kin, etc until you died and someone collected.

    That is indeed still a problem, but an order of magnitude lower than credit card numbers which really have no reasons to be stored once the transaction is finished.

    Yes, you can visualize a 4D arrangement of objects but I think this article is more about visualizing a shape in 4D and making deductions on it like : is it closed ? can it be projected as a cube in a given angle ? How many edges does it have ? etc...

    Still, Nintendo's move has some sense. Imagine that one of their competitors released a crappy WiiFit-like before them. When WiiFit is finally released it will suffer from two prejudices :
    - fit games are crap
    - this is a blatant rip-off of company X

    Astronomers would be the firsts to enjoy a theory that says that We Are Not Likely To Be Alone. Be sure that if this discovery is peer-reviewed, all these arguments have already been opposed.

    While some types of traffic are obviously not ham (say, spoofed IPs or syn scans), assigning intent to raw data flows requires nothing less than strong AI.

    I would like to add that the remaining 1% happens to be the preferred vector of Chinese attacks. Many Human Rights NGO received apparently totally legit emails about current events with an infected .doc or a .pdf (itself containing perfectly interesting information)

    Someone tells these humorless Americans that humor can take many faces. What flat-earthers are doing is quite admirable in fact : they take the challenge of defending a view that is contradicted by almost every fact of normal life and try to create a coherent if convulated theory about it.

    After the whole "OMG Iran is DISCONNECTED! War is nigh !" mess a few months ago, I'm waiting for more than a few failed pings and traceroute before acknowledging for cyber-warfare. A lot of mess can be caused by large-scale power disruption and people (especially governmental admins) moving from places to places with a big part of their infrastructure.

    Maybe I am showinf an arrogant bias but, is the IT infrastructure of Georgia redundant enough to resist a real-world conflict ?
