I think she did right. I agree that it is unfair for the targeted policemen, but she tested the invasive laws' safeguards. Policemen can exchange private data with impunity. She shows that we can't exchange public data without troubles. There is one theory that says that the privacy invasion that the police is authorized to do is balanced by the public scrutiny they are under. This event is a counter argument to this theory.

What is the use of changing a return type in a language where there is no return type ? It took about 10 years to have a correct IDE in C++/Java (I consider C# a natural extension of these). Give python some time. The language is far more powerful, it lacks a good IDE but once it is made, I think it can show people that refactoring is useless.

Coreboot is hard, but Dell has the bad habit of installing thousands of software on every machine it sells. Adding Firefox and OpenOffice to the list seems pretty straightforward. OpenOffice and Firefox marketshare are far bigger than the computer enthusiast. Many people know that open office is the "Microsoft Office that is free". The fact that Dell leaves so many clients unsatisfied for a feature that is easy to add is a strong indication that the issues are contractual and commercial, not technical.

Don't trust outsiders. I have always worked at small companies and they all started with a developer being a part-time sysadmin. I once saw the transition between inside sysadmin to out-sourced. If I ever manage a company, I will not do it. Because it is another company, they will make you pay more than it is worth, and you will end up with a quality that is what a sysadmin gives to a client, not to his boss.
Security is not that hard to make right. Have one developer who can do part-time sysadmin and when the company grows too much, hire a good full-time sysadmin (that maybe can be a part-time developer as well)
