Server Error in '/FiosForHome' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
It sounds so...Bush. Start an underfunded agency with no real power to make it look like your doing something, then blame it all on China.
Here is the problem. It seems to me he wants to "vigorously enforce intellectual property protections and prosecute the violation".
Does this mean that the authors of Bnetd would go to jail, or people who make replacement toner cartidges, or people who make competing garage door openers all sued under the DMCA?
He mentions the technology is not the problem, but he doesn't mention that we are not the problem either, which is true. The problem is that the world changes, strategies hat once made money will at some point, fail. You don't see Standard Oil selling kerosine do you? You dont' see blacksmiths hauling in large sums of cash or whatever. I'm sure they were against cars back in the day.
The problem is not goint to be solved by some dumb ass task force that arrests people because the problem is not organized piracy. The problem is that laws in the US are bought and sold by big business and the DCMA is simple wrong. I know that and I'm just one guy, not even a task force.
And if you don't like Wal-Mart, don't shop there. Your personal experience isn't exactly scientific proof that Wal-Mart sucks, there are plenty of people (myself included) that shop there because the employees on the whole are friendly and because their prices are incredible.
...there really isn't any difference whether you're coding C# or Java.
If you count not being able to run the program on any other platform than Windows. With JAVA, you could easily deploy a program for Win, Mac, and Linux.
I have a boss who is an absolutely horrible programmer. He has talent but has some technique problems that really anger the rest of the team.
For exmaple:
A. he never follows our coding conventions or uses our libraries. He always writes his own libraries that do the same thing even though we ask him not too.
B. He never uses descriptive variable names. In fact, he will use only 1 letter variable names, namely, i, j and k.
C. He never comments a sigle line of code.
D. He never lines up curley brakets
E. He will have nested if statements sometimes 15 to 20 levels.
F. He writes functions thousands of lines long that duplicate tons of code.
G. He never checks user input. For example, if a textbox asks for an IP address, just put in the name "bob",and you can crash the whole application.
H. His excuse is "first get it working, then get it working right". the problem his, he releases this code as production code to our customers.
Recently, I had to spend a month away from my family out of the country rewriting all of his code, every single line. I removed all he dupicate libraries and brought everything into the step with the project.
We have tried to talk to him but he won't really listen. He says we are babies and coding conventions are for pussies. He says he never needed any of that stuff with Fortran. He is constantly trying to get involved in writing code but people would rather stay late and work rather than have him do anything.
Apparently the Terrorist were using the information to negotiate lower fees when building thier evil information infrastructure. Since terrorists should not be allowed to pay lower fees AND attack the USA, the FCC has decided to keep that information secret. Now, the terrorists will have to pay what everyone else pays.
WTH? What is an enabler? That's just some vague psycho-babble buzzword with no inherent meaning. How are we going to enable Iraq?
Enabler/Enabled/Enabling, etc are liberal words. You don't hear republicans use because it involves teaching someone to fish instead of simply selling them a fish and thats not going to make anyone any money. (Do I need to explain that old addage as well?)
Enabler:
one that enables another to achieve an end; especially : one who enables another to persist in self-destructive behavior.
Your other points are laughable at best.
Free Elections - Who is going to vote and risk being killed for helping the americans?
Police Force - we just had to fire huge amount of them because of corruption, the ones they do exist are innefective. What is a police force going to do against RPG and automatic weapons?
Electricity, Sanitaion, Medical: If by 'check' you mean about 25% done, well, then I can't argue.
Oil Economy: ? At $49+ a barrel? Are you joking? The oil industry in Iraq is under constant attack from gorilla forces and its what pushed the prices so high.
By enabling Iraq, John Kerry means that he is going to approach this probelm from a more humble, understanding way. Instead of forcing democracy on Iraq first, give them peace and stability. Instead of handing out the contracts for the reconstruction of Iraq to US firms, start new Iraqi construction companies and hire Iraqis to rebuild their own country, while stimulating the economy. Instead of taking over Iraqi oil, teach the Iraqis how to be a competitor on the global oil market. Instead of killing civilians, go after the gorilla logistics and supply lines. Instead of not taking responsibility for your mistakes, be candid with the american people and don't feed us a line of shit when most of us know better.
o me this is "unnecessary choice". The choices only evolve because the existing procedures fail at particular tasks. Why not develop, for example, a clean, comprehendable, human as well as machine usable startup system to handle services so that one distribution could act as a server or desktop.
We have that, its called Gentoo Linux. All other distros are basically obsolete.
Europe hates Bush, as does most of the world... or at least his war monger cronies. Someone has to come in and make sure ol Jeb Bush isn't messing with the results.
I'm not sure what article you read but its obviously not the one posted. The ZDNet article didn't sound at all like your typical operating system zealot. It was simple a run down of Sun's latest and greatest plan to fight Linux and what could go wrong. Not a real harsh word was spoken, in fact the author even complimented McNealy.
The sad trush is that thier plan is moronic and Redhat = Linux is simply a lie that won't work. Incase you've been living under a rock that last 5 years, Linux has no problem with competition. Do you think we're afraid of SUN? The only headlines Sun has made lately has been the deal with MS and some of their other Linux strategies.
The 'morals' statement comes from the FACT that Sun and Redhat are/wre partners and have been for a while. http://news.zdnet.com/2100-3513_22-994602. html?tag =nl
Kinda messed up to take a cash infusion from MS then turn on the people who helped you design Sun Linux.
Microsoft thus far has been fairly benevolent towards Open Source, despite what this article seems to suggest.
Microsoft executives funded the SCO lawsuit through Baystar and RBC. I don't know if that qualifies as 'benevolent'. They are also constantly lying about the OSS community, spreading FUD at every opportunity.
I agree MS is researching Linux in order to borrow ideas from us, the problem is, they are also patenting things the OSS community invented.
Hmm, since the current outbreak of Linux on the desktop MS has:
1. launched a massive security sweep of all existing code.
2. released XP service pack2 that defaulted most security settings to reasonably high levels, including turning on the built in firewall.
3. Has resumed actively developing Internet Explorer, even released a popup blocker (about 2 years too late on that one Bill)
Those are the only three things I can think of now but it sounds to me like open source is stimulating innovation here. If Open source is providing MS with tough competition, hence pushing both sides to attempt to innovate more and create high quality products, how is this bad? Are the people in our government that fucking stupid? I mean, they can't be that dumb if they got elected....well, actually (bush...cough bush)
I've read a lot of posts from people who believe innovation in software is dead, I say, don't listen to them, they are not programmers. Simply because the product is the same, doesn't mean there isn't innovation all over the place. Someone might have found a way to make the application 10% faster using some new technique never used before, you never know. Open source is full of these kinds of breakthoughs and our development model ensures that they don't die with the company who created them, they live on through the GPL, being used and reused in many applications until something even better comes along.
Open source is not only innovative in and of itself, it also creates innovative code and makes sure that everyone can get ahold of it.
I go to the page:

Good, I hope they quit because as an animal rights activist, I know they all have about 20 cats that need attention.
Isn't this just your everyday garden variety copyright infringement?
I'm starting to feel bad for these guys at dvdanswers.com. Thier webserver holds up for about 2 seconds before it stops responding.
It reminds me of that scene in Star Wars when OB1 deactivates the tractor beam and it makes that low humm as the power is shut off.
"You've never heard of the DVD news site dvdanswers.com, its the site that got Slashdotted in under 12 parsects."
Incredibly priced dog shit is still dog shit.

Bush, your brother actually fixed a Florida State election. How do you sleep at night?
Europe hates Bush, as does most of the world... or at least his war monger cronies. Someone has to come in and make sure ol Jeb Bush isn't messing with the results.

Whats that, like $2 American?
You know, you can have morals and operate a successful business.
From interview:
Q: Why did you rework the original trilogy into the special-edition versions in the late 1990s?
LUCAS: To me, the special edition ones are the films I wanted to make.....
I knew it all along. Given enough time and money, he would have fucked up the first 3 episodes anyway. Obviously they were all just luck.
Misrepresentation and concealment from VALVE. That is just too far fetched to believe.
