No, that merely means someone behind the monitor is holding in his hands an ID of someone who is over 18. That does not necessarily mean that he is over 18.
"In sum, the District Court found:
"Even if credit card verification or adult password verification were implemented, the Government presented no testimony as to how such systems could ensure that the user of the password or credit card is in fact over 18. The burdens imposed by credit card verification and adult password verification systems make them effectively unavailable to a substantial number of Internet content providers." Ibid. (finding 107)."
Now...this finding would also have ramifications on selling games online. How do you verify age? You can't.
I've had a NetFlix acct for quite some time. I tried BB for a month, to see how it compared, and switch if it was better. Even with the 2 free/month, NetFlix was a better value. Faster, bigger selection, better UI. At one point, I had occasion to send back 3 each on the same day. Netflix had a new one to me before BB had registered receiving two of them.
make computer software used in business subject to property taxes
Is that merely a commercial product that you paid someone for? Or is it also something as simple as a perl script (that you paid someone for), that runs some essential function on your server. Software written in-house? Excel macros?
What about some code that resides on a server in Denver, used by a user in Chatanooga?
Problem is, how are we supposed to edit video without a capture card?
You're not supposed to 'edit' video. You're supposed to consume(pay for) what they give you, and like it.
Produce you OWN video? Ha! That's only for the big studios. Home movies? Who even watches those, anyway? No, citizen. Sit down, shut up, and take what they give you.
Car AC generally requires a pretty closed system. Windows up, etc. Your car is OK, but a HUMVEE is not particularly 'closed'. Turret, windows down...all significant air leaks. All the AC unit might be doing it blowing cold air out the windows, without actually cooling the occupants. And HUMVEEs aren't the only vehicles moving.
If we can cool the guys, instead of the inside of whatever vehicle they are in....one more step to a self contained fighting unit, with a man at the center.
i think these companies honestly think the more annoying a commerical is, the more likely it is to stick into my memory,
They do, and it does.
if tampon producing companys stopped all television advertising right now, i can guarentee none of them would see a loss of profit for the next quarter due to their lack of tv ads.
Wrongo. Maybe not the next quarter, but in a year...profits down by 25%. I used to work for a marketing research company. The amount of money companies spend on getting 'just the right ad' is insane. Put out a crappy ad, or no ad at all....sales go down.
McDonalds vs Burger King. Coke vs Pepsi. If any of those were to stop advertising....the other would rule the market. They don't like spending all that money, but they're on a treadmill that they cannot jump off. Running as fast as they can, just to keep abreast of the competition.
That one of the reasons we haven't seen more direct TV downloads. The networks, and their customers the retailers, haven't figured out how to use that format to present ads to you.
Either way, a hands free kit makes drivers who insist on talking on their phone significantly safer, just not AS safe as not being on the phone.
I'd lose the word 'significantly'. Personally, if talking on a regular cell phone while driving is 1 on the 'safety scale' and just driving is 10 on that scale, I'd put using a hands free setup at 2. But that's just my opinion. Much like yours, not based on any actual facts.
However, I can testify from experience that a hands free kit makes me alot less likely to crash when talking on the phone when I'm in dense traffic having to frequently shift gears while not moving in a perfectly straight line
So you have a suitable sample size of your crashes to determine this? If so, maybe you shouldn't be driving at all.

Revenues from gas tax are falling slightly. More fuel efficient cars burn less gas. Less gas = less revenue. Somehow, that "shortfall" needs to be made up. There are two ways to do that. 1) Have a more efficient state govt, that uses less money (Ha!)
or 2) get people to pay more money. They can't just raise the per gal tax, so somehow, they have to convince people to pay more, without letting them know they're paying more. So, change the way it is calculated. By mile. And just reading the odometer won't work. A lot of people live in one state, and drive primarily in another. Who gets the revenue from that? With a GPS, is can be determined where you actually drove, so the money can be extracted from your wallet and go to the right people.
Of course, the other main reason for this is to actually track people.

Sure you can.
In addition to that, what software company (Like Great Plains, People Soft, SAS)
Well...MS now owns Great Plains.
SAS? Install Center: SAS for Linux®.
PeopleSoft? Owned by Oracle, who does support Linux.

The Constitution similarly says nothing about exploring Mars. Should we disband NASA?
Talking 'openly and honestly' with your kids is a far cry from letting every 15 year old drive down to the liquor store to buy a bottle of Jim Beam.
At one point, I had occasion to send back 3 each on the same day. Netflix had a new one to me before BB had registered receiving two of them.
I dropped BB after the intial month.

That's OK. I'll make up for your share.

What, I have to wait until next week?
Both entities are going to have to meet in the middle, as far as on screen visuals. Which can only be bad for the Google we all know and love.

And TV is more expensive than newprint. Guess which one is in deep sales trouble.
They do, and it does.

"If your mommy talks on the phone while she's driving
She doesn't love you very much"
They do. Its called the standard job application process.
Post a notice on Monster.
Gather several thousand resumes.
Pick 20 or so for further review.
1 lucky person actually gets the job.

It's called a PDA. Smaller, lighter, and probably does everything this laptop could do. Get a solar battery charger, and no worries about power.
Small world. I x-trained into programming (after many years on various jets) just before then. Was at Keesler in late 93/early 94.
Comm is waaay different than the flightline.
Won't have to work hard to back up that claim.

This IS slashdot after all.
