That guy is clearly not a linux user, or even a Windows power user. The one useful piece of info I got from that was that it boots and loads KDE quite fast. Some benchmarks would have been nice. Compiling some Cell code on the SDK would have been nicer.
I agree. You can buy a wrt54gl for under $70 USD, and install OpenWRT without installing a serial port. I believe in ones right to do whatever they want with what they've purchased, EULA be dammed, but this subverts a neat project/model for little gain.
That said, there's eventually going to be a lot of these turning up at garage sales...
I was waiting for someone to make this point. People seem to be ignoring the fact that there are many examples of totalitarianism in history and in the present, maybe believing the Constitution or some inherent quality of the American people ensures that such could never happen to them.
But the U.S. has already fallen farther than I ever thought possible. Torture, wiretaps, lies used to wage war, vote fraud and the blatant use of fear as a weapon against their own people are the order of the day, and the guns Americans hold have so far proven useless.
I agree that most people are not capable of maintaing fluency in more than a couple languages, but nobody's making you learn this new fangled language and neglect another. Lua, Python, Haskell, and all the rest exist because they encapsulate something new, that goes beyond syntax. The ideas might turn out to be really dumb, or it might turn out to be very smart, and then we all run of and try these things in our favorite language.
I hated the whitespace thing in Python, now I'm convinced that every language should do it. I used to think the TMTOWTDI philosophy was 1337 and allowed me to express myself better, now I think it's messy and confusing.
Your argument makes no sense. We're not trying to rebuild the Library of Alexandria here. It's the internet, it's not like a large truck.
Wikipedia can have it all. Stop whining about precived US bias (no I'm not USian), and go upload something ethnic or something. To one of the many non-english wikipedias maybe.
I know several people who have made careers useing software they first used pirated. Maya and 3D Max come to mind, as they are so expensive, and didn't come in 'light' versions back then. I learnt C on a pirated Borland package.
I have the 1010lt (cheaper than the above). For your needs (not multitrack music) it would certainly not be your weakest component, which, of course, is what you have to worry about.
In fact, considering the state of codecs, broadband, and computer speakers, the guy who suggested the Soundblaster isn't too far of the mark.
Interesting. Delivering this could be a huge boon for Apple, as I don't see MS and the Vista codebase as being very agile, and multicore is all Intel and AMD will be talking about for a long time.
I'm also looking forward to seeing dtrace in Leopard. I think I might be buying a Mac!

That's true, but ignores the inverse-square law.
You would seem to know little of DTrace or ZFS. Comparing them to what's available on Linux is silly.
Linux would get DTrace, ZFS, etc. Those techs are about as cutting edge as it gets. What would Solaris get?
None of the dates I've got of /. were really 'girlfriend' material.
SIMD and lack of branch predictors makes for a shitty webserver. A renderfarm would fit the bill, though.
In evolutionary terms, having sex with anyone beats not having sex.

Hospitals use accelerators to make various isotopes, that are then injected and imaged.
Falling off your horse on the first turn.
I'm sure many adventurers have experienced the phenomena where as soon as you become 'unstoppable', stupidity is found around every corner...
Way overkill. That's why I want a MBP with EGA graphics and 8-bit sound.

You can run the GUI...google for info, or wait until a packaged install DVD arrives.
Like most of us did last time!

Sun (Sparc) was 64-bit before Java was released, so I imagine the Java codebase has always been 64-bit safe.
'Nuff said.
