    Nobody starts developing in OSS for the money. And IBM might not be giving paycheck to every OS developer, but they are contributing tons of code, and that's the point.

    Troll. The linked to articles blurb says "With size estimates ranging from 256 megs to a gig". Does that sound hard drive based to you? And your google search for "flash-based website" doesn't really back up your point, does it? I don't expect to see very many websites run off of flash memory.

    That's xenopobic fear-mongering if I ever heard it. China is quite capable of building a spy satellite without this technology. Or they might just send someone to vist the installations in question, it's still a free country, after all.

    Why does such a large chunk of americia insist on seeing the spread of technology and prosperity as a threat? You can't stop progress.

    I think the OP is talking about something like an extraordinary enzyme, that could grab two H atoms and smack them together to cause fusion.

    IANAP or C, but I would bet that the energy involved would destroy any such molocule.

    The 'opposing view' rightly cautions against false prophets and the seductive lure of imortality, but doesn't acknowledge that we know about a billion times more about aging than we did even 50 years ago.

    I personally am not expecting to live to a 1000, but I'm sure that in a few generations people will be living much longer.

    Not murder, but criminal negligence causeing death. At some level, and I don't know what that level is, managment made descisions that resulted in this accident. If that was 'criminal', or just an 'accident' is for the courts.

    Sometime accidents just happen, but when 4000+ people are dead, we should probably find out how.
