I believe that most would assume that when the government asks something that isn't obviously illegal
Tapping phones without a warrant is obviously illegal (the except is FISA where you can apply for a warrant after the fact up to 72 hours). These companies are subject to these requests all the time, they know what the requirements are for legal wiretapping, do you honestly think they had no idea that a warrantless wiretapping program would be on shaky ground?
the idea of NOT granting immunity to those who cooperated with the government sets a bad precedent, undermining the credibility of the U.S. government.
They had a choice not to cooperate, Qwest acted in this manner. I can't imagine the legal departments in these companies never mentioned that this possibly an illegal action. As far as undermining the credibility of the U.S. government, it was undermined when Bush Administration authorized this program.
EA has already been acting like a bitch by buying out exclusive licensing deals with the NFL
Blame the NFL for that, they are the ones that wanted the exclusive deal. EA had no recourse but to get it. (Madden is a cash cow for them, they wouldn't give the up willingly)
I can almost guarantee that if EA buys TT, most of the development staff is going to quit, and reform elsewhere. That's how it done in the gaming industry.
Turnout would be higher if people voted for a party rather than an individual candidate. In some areas if a candidate is part of the Republican party for instance, this person is guaranteed to win the office. So for the people who don't want this person there is no point in going out to vote, since they can't change the outcome anyway (or at least they perceive they can't change the outcome). Some elections don't have anyone important on the ticket just some local offices that don't much affect your life. That will also drive down voting. (which is why candidates like when there is someone with an important office like Senate or President on the ticket so more people will come out and vote) Young voters don't vote because they are turned off by the amount of corruption and see that the system is broken or are too lazy to go out and vote.
These days there is no reason a console can't use a keyboard and mouse as an alternative control input. The PS3 can for certain games. (UT3 comes to mind) The Xbox360 will accept a USB keyboard for text input, but you're stuck using the gamepad for games that could be better played with a mouse and keyboard.
Things can only go downhill for Microsoft now. Free drivers will be even cleaner and the performance gap will widen.
History has shown that the higher quality product does not always win. I bet if I randomly took 100 people off the street, put them in a room and asked what Linux was, maybe 5 at the most would have an idea, if I asked what Windows was, at the very least they could tell me it was made by Microsoft and came with their computer. Linux distros do not have the marketing capabilities that Microsoft does, and in a world where people think things should get easier to use overtime, Linux will not take even 10% of the desktop marketshare.
I agree, before jumping to conclusion that Verizon is out to get them, be sure to actually check if there is a problem on your end. I had DSL for a few months after FiOS was available, and I had no problems with my connection before I decided to switch once TV came out too.
These teachers shouldn't be interjecting their own religious views into the curriculum at all. They should be teaching the facts about the subject, making sure the student understands the fact, and then letting the student make their own decision on whether or not they believe the Theory of Evolution has merit. Seems these days the only place to get a decent pre-college education is sending your kids to a Catholic or other private school. At least there they'll teach you science the way it's meant to be taught, unless that's some how changed too from the time I went to one.
Republicans used to be progressive eco-friendly and moral see Abraham Lincoln.
If you think Abraham Lincoln wasn't racist, you're lying to yourself.
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything." -Abraham Lincoln
Good thing we spent shitpiles of money on that. I feel safe knowing that we can knock down all those pesky Soviet missiles.
The sad part is, there still are people that think Star Wars was the crux of the USSR's collapse, you know widespread corruption or drawn out operations in Afghanistan had nothing to do with it. Those same people probably can't fathom why Russia is moving back toward a strong centralized government and why Putin will still be the leader of Russia even after Medvedev takes office and the probably think that a democracy in Iraq is going to last after US troops pull out.
they're in a better fiscal position to do real traffic monitoring, and with their new fiber infrastructure, they'd better do something to shape it or the kids with the external Terabyte hard drives sharing warez and movie collections and trying to mirror PirateBay are going to flood their most critical connections.
Verizon's PON network is much easier to upgrade to support demand, than it is for Comcast to upgrade their current infrastructure. Verizon had been using BPON when they first started the FIOS roll outs, but now switched to GPON, and I believe they are currently switching all BPON to GPON or they might be just switching the users who need to have GPON at existing BPON COs. Verizon only splits the GPON OLT between 32 users when they can max it at 64. (so they can have HD on demand content) They also have a huge amount of bandwidth since they are a Tier 1 provider where Comcast buys their bandwidth from someone else.
Although FIOS shares bandwidth per PON, the likely hood of all 32 users being on at the same time downloading huge amounts of data is unlikely. I know the person down the street from me has FIOS but only uses it for casual browsing. (got it for the HD service though, the quality is on par with OTA HD)
Well that's only a summation of their daily fine since it was first issued, it's still ticking too. Their stockholder's might be pissed that they are throwing away money that isn't going to company efforts, and I seriously doubt the Bush administration will be able coax the EU into nullifying the fines.
This is an advance that even Intel does not appear to be planning
Maybe because Intel doesn't think it's worth doing. If AMD can make a combined CPU/GPU not much more or at the same price at current offerings that's one thing, but if it's going to cost what it would cost to buy a GPU and a CPU now, that's something that isn't going to pan out, especially in the business world where they don't care if they are still running a Maxtor video card on a PCI bus because they aren't doing any gaming and any company who needs that kind of GPU power is running a Quadro or FireGL.
I'm also wonder how they are going to decide what kind of performance of the GPU with the CPU, (ie high end gpu performance with high end cpu performance), sometimes processing power is more applicable, other times people want both, or someone is willing to take a lesser CPU power and get a better video card. How are they going to match the consumer preference.
Then it's doomed to fail, "the grind" is what slows players down from completing the content too fast while your making new content. Sure the top 1% or less get through it anyway, but the average player makes him or her take longer. Bad business model if you ask me. (and I hated the WoW grinding too)
Madden has been the only football game out there since they purchased the exclusive license from the NFL.
All-Pro Football 2k8 was released last year. I myself don't consider on par with Madden, since it lacks a franchise mode (even if they are all made up teams, I don't care), but give enough time I think it would be pretty good.
Microsoft comes out with an external Blu-Ray player. According to people's comments on various forums I read through, the end of the Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD war was not only suppose to kill HD-DVD but the 360 as well. (as if everyone who bought a 360 bought it for the HD-DVD capabilities)
If I were working on software, I'd write something platform independent as I could
There are plenty of open libraries and APIs that can be used to build native ports of software if the company wanted to do so, I'm pretty much sure most of them are either LGPL or BSD-like in terms of licensing. Not saying each platform doesn't have it's own quirks that needed to be ironed out, but a native port > wine emulation any day. Not saying WINE aspirations are without merit, but I see WINE as nothing but a crutch for developers who can say "This product runs on Linux" but skate around making a native port because WINE is there.

If you try and get even by using IOC stuff, they'll only countersue you for copyright infringement, and I'm sure they have the lawyers to pursue it.
I agree, before jumping to conclusion that Verizon is out to get them, be sure to actually check if there is a problem on your end. I had DSL for a few months after FiOS was available, and I had no problems with my connection before I decided to switch once TV came out too.

6. Comcast, AT&T, verizon continue aggressive bittorrent blocking. Qwest refuses to do that and continues its old policy of allowing all.
Verizon doesn't block BitTorrent, they won't even send you so much a letter for downloading over 1 tb.
Hitler.
I know what you mean, if his reaction here is any indication, you best be staying out of his way.

He tried sticking the defendant with attorney fees, but it was denied on the bases that he was representing himself.
Instead of paying dividends or buying back stock, let's overpay for companies and enrich investment bankers.
According to their Cash Flow Statement, they do pay dividends and they do buy back stock.

I don't know if you can consider a regular keyboard a beat-up Taurus, especially since it's harder to type for long periods of time on the Optimus.
