Thatttttt's okay, I really wanted to post the entire article and claim 'just in case'. But I didn't. I am being a good little slashdot reader. For now, any way. By the way, have you seen this?
For those of you tricked by the l4m3r reply to a fine first post, this is what we like to call first post jelousy/denial. Sort of like penis jelousy, but slightly different. Since Mr. STOG didn't get what he wanted, he's replying as if he never wanted it in the first place. Clever, but ineffective as far as I am concerned. Especially when compared to the glory of such a well crafted first post. Shame on you, sir.
for Linux to stabilize and think about long term stabilty and market placement. Those are two small words that seem to scare a lot people.
The only things killing the whole movement: the negativity towards growth, scattered organisation in development, and anger towrds any type of establishment of such things.
It seems that people want Linux to thrive but hate the ways that need to be adopted to thrive.
Any company that believes in what it sells should have no fears in warranting product. Clauses can only stand to alleviate any mfr responsibilty in event of say re-writing your own source code, unless departed for development, which essentially means a modified system. In any case regardless of product or manufacturer, if you change the original product you buy, you void tyhe warranty.
I can only be 100% positive that if they inventoried every Windows box out there in the world, warranties would be scrutinized and ultimately voided for present and irrelevant software on MS systems. Stands to reason.
Buy a car, change the motor on your own, you doped your warranty.
As pr0cs get faster and advancements that allow machines to use voltage in a more efficient manner continue to be brought to market, will power usage rise or decrease? With a new 1+G machine is it not recommended by pr0c manufacturers to run them with no less than a 300W+ power supply.
Looking forward to what copper chip technology has to offer.
