    The text of Hamlet, even stripped of punctuation, contains well over 130,000 letters which would lead to a probability of one in 3.4×10^183946. Apparently events with infinite small probability happen quite frequently.

  10. Don't protect a dying industry! on South Korean Music Retailers Dying · · Score: 1

    Anyone who has ever read economics should recognize that the music industry is dying. Protecting a dying industry is just inherently wrong!

    What they should do is to quite trying to protect artists by passing various laws, and by doing so force them to find new ways of making money.

    Supply is always going to equal demand! If we want more artists, we'll pay for it.. and if we feel there are too many we won't (like we are not doing at the moment).

    I wish governments would spend millions of dollars on job security for programmers as well. ;)

  12. Have you ever looked at the moon? on Soyuz To The Moon? · · Score: 1

    Tell men when you have last looked at a half moon and seen a gradient that seems to stretch about 1/8 of the total circomference?

    The moon is a lot smaller than earth, so the twilight zone will also be a lot smaller. On earth I'd guess it stretches some 100 KM, thus a really rough guess would be that it stretches no more than 10 KM on the moon. It's also a give that it's shorter on the moon due to no athmosphere and no refraction of light rays.

  13. Potential Energy on Japanese Inventor's Motor Uses 80% Less Power · · Score: 1

    What the heck people.. You are supposed to be nerds and most of you are talking about this as it would actually be remotely possible. If you have a piece of metal near a magnet, and harness the released potential energy as the metal piece moves closer to the magnet, then how would you ever get that metal piece away from the magnet without using exactly as much energy as you got out in the reciprocal process?

    PE = Distance * Force

    you'll never get any extra energy out of this equation.. hence it is an equation! and as far as I know there is no such thing as magic equations are there?

    How cynical can you be.. whenever something like this comes around you predict the end of the world.. It's not a question of somebody getting arrested because they thought of mugging a person on the street.. it's about the ability to do city surveilance more effectively by reporting suspecious behaviour of people on screen.. imagine having to monitor 100 cameras at the same time.. wouldn't it then be somewhat of a relief if the program would sort out the screens that show suspicious events on them? Come on people get real! assuming this camera tecnique would work..
