Hot action with skirts above the ankles. You'll be saying your prayers extra hard tonight. (wink wink).

I doubt that, while there is some FUD about real Tech worker jobs going overseas (meaning from USA). Some of them are programmers, most are returned Expats who did their time in the Valley and realized correctly they could live a hell of a lot better in India and not be treated as outsiders. The bulk of the rest is Call Centers and the more menial side of tech, like hunting for gold in online games. A lot of work still goes outside and that was a trend started by the wealth of Russian Techies in the post Soviet era. However, how much can a support person in Bangalore do to hook up Joan-from-accounting's printer?
With shrinking wages and long long hours isn't it time to start getting overtime? If you not a manager managing people your a worker. Has long as your bosses can work you like a dog for 60 hours weeks then they won't hire anyone else to take the load. The threat of Overtime for tech workers will help put more of your colleagues to work.
That is where Solaris beats Linux. Out of the box SUN boxen can pump more IO then the best configured Linux boxen. Security aside, this was a PR stunt what was orchestrated from the start. x86 boxes can be overwhelmed at defined load level. Overwhelmed equals a win to this test. It puts it beyond the reach of anyone to crack unless they can get access before the Sheeple get there. Like in the first 5 minutes. Posting to Slashdot triggers a slashdot effect and gets you that result for 95:50 hours.
That makes for a good excuse, but how many modders actually do it for that reason? How many of them actually know any Japanese? And why would they use a pirated copy instead of purchasing and importing a legal Japanese copy?
How much english is in any game? How much story do you need to fight a monster? Games come out first in Japan, if you want the coolest and latest stuff you go for the source. An unmodded console won't do the trick. That article is PUREST FUD.
"The only statistically significant result was in favour of placebo for adverse events, based on one trial, which appears likely to be a spurious result. "
However, other results were;
"Alzheimer's disease sufferers have been found to have a lack of the enzyme responsible for converting choline into acetylcholine within the brain. Lecithin is a major dietary source of choline, so extra consumption may reduce the progression of dementia."
"The Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement Group's Specialized Register was searched on 15 May 2002 using the terms lecithin and phosphaditylcholine."
I prefer backup to DVD. You never know when your system will crash and your may have to restore from the install disks. And yes I did read the real article, not the agenda-ridden screed.

Much of the popularity of P2P is that the distribution of media (what ever it is) is too slow and then too expensive when it arrives.
Mostly it's just un-obtainable. I mostly download Fansubs, but I am happy to curtailed it as outlets like Fry's and Best Buy started carrying Anime is quantity in their stores. The Fansub ideal was share until it's released in English then start buying it. That is a good plan in so far has it brings Anime into the US market. The Anime companies are not seriously going after the Fansubbers who use P2P almost exclusively, attacks are token at best. They are promoting the product in a market the Japanese Anime companies can't reach.
Video on Demand as been a success because the shows and movies that people want to watch are at their fingertips. I time society will digest this and we will see iPods w/ Movies on them instead of just mp3s. (Please no examples, I know there are ways).
This article has generated examples of just these points.
So when did the folks over at Fedora go back in time to become the basis of the OS they are an offshoot of? While I will grant you that RH/Fedora is pretty popular I will stick to SuSE.
Got one off eBay for about $15, hot swappable and very portable. I put in a 6 gig that I bought used for under $10. This one runs off the USB port so there isn't any messy power cordage.
not to sound like a scoffer, but what is fedora beyond a natural upgrade of Redhat? Sun did something like that when they stopped calling it 2.x and calling it Solaris 7 8 9 and 10. I doubt I am the first to call FUD on the fedora name. At least with Sun switching off SUNos to Solaris they did make a major revision in moving out of BSD and over to System V.
What I am getting at is that Redhat and Fedora should be counted as the same OS. Can we please have a courtesy flush on that marketing?
On a serious note, I never like playing Monty Hall/Haul Dungeons [what prize is behind door number.....]. Those were games where the DM/GM would rain wealth and items down on players in a twisted attempt to gain popularity. I quit role playing games in 1982, but the rule still applies.
I would call you a News Service to the degree that you meeting the established norms of a news service. You have a readership and you do research, and you are keeping current within the scope you have choosen. Unlike a lot of bloggers your not channelling dead crazy people or parroting a party line.
Sadly at least one of those two examples qualifies as Journalism has well. (Yes, I mean the one about dead crazy people)
The end definition of a Press in the USA becomes, publishing for distribution. Posting to a blog would also qualify mostly because the deciding factors pre-date our current technology.
OK and with the Outlaw Star reference, I am being snotty about Firefly and referencing an old snide comment of mine about Firefly here on slashdot.
But still, given the poor performance of Legends of the Rangers, I can see why it would flop. G'Kar made B5 (amongst others) and it was nice to see him but he wasn't staying and neither were the audience.
Have you noticed the effects and camera work were lifted right out of B5? Especially 'Call to Arms' and Crusade. The 'jerky then focus' in combat scenes is almost a B5 trademark.
Also a lot of the political stuff from just before the secession of B5 from Earth almost mirrors the post-911 mood in the US and the puppet newscasters practically scripted FOX News.
It's useless to try to hold some people to anything they say while they're madly in love, drunk, or running for office."
Gleefully clipped from the bar under the comments .

Modding a PS should not be a suprise as many games from Japan don't work in a US version. They have nobody to blame but themselves.

Nevermind.......
Did they really think those 'Controller-less' modems would stand up? Next they will be admitting they put Windows CE on it.
The fix is in folks. I for one welcome our new Teen-angst ridden-drama masters.
Of course I never turn it on, but if anyone tried to break into it the would have the door slam into them.
Or the whole of Deepshit 9. And saying that I hate (truely and deeply hate) Jar Jar. Also Super Milk-chan has clearer plotlines.
