I might point out that businesses are usually insured exactly for the reasons you would sue them. So sucessfully suing them for a software bug will not hurt them that much financially apart from higher insurance premiums the next year.
Actually as far as I remember you have to confirm the address via an e-mail they send to you. So although you may not use your own address - it has to be one you have access to.
If you're going to be awkward like that - government. Generally people only work for them because they want to and they're not purely driven by making a profit!
Companies like AOL Time Warner, Disney etc have been calling for this for ages. They're terribly worried that their huge back library of movies, songs etc will produce a lower and lower income each year as people illegally copy things rather than buy them at (inflated) prices.
"And as the rage raged through Anakin's rage, he raged through his raging rage to rage the rage rage." - Well I thought the book made from the Super Mario Brothers was very poorly written until I read that! IMHO I think that books that are made into films are generally better than films that are made into books. With a book made from a film the author's got to tell someone else's story and write bits to cover bits the film misses out.
"since my organization is "Crime"" - despite reading this bit through a few times I still didn't understand it. Is it a joke on the phrase organized crime?
Or in Yahoo's case continue to lose money despite the advertising (or have they quietly broken even without telling anyone)? This isn't about banner ads anyway - but the question is would you be willing to pay more/month just for the privelege of being able to set the Organization line when posting to Usenet to whatever you want (which you can do anyway through Deja)?
Personally I think it's a genius way to get some free advertising. After all Yahoo et al advertise in the signature block of outgoing e-mails - why shouldn't ISPs do a similar thing with Usenet postings too? As to changing the message body - well you're just being silly!
It be easier to realise how I meant it if you could have heard how I would have said it - I'm really not bothered if a few people don't understand my sense of humour. I have had posts modded up to 5(Funny) before so prehaps today is just one of my off days. There is no "grade" for humour. It's like the saying "What's one man's meat is another man's poison"
Not everyone finds my humour funny. As to the troll bit I think my karma of 47 proves I'm not. The WIPO is the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Exactly what do emoticons have to do with SOP anyway?

"After all, the UK is Oceania, isn't it?" - eh? I know we're surrounded by water but that doesn't make us a place called Oceania!

Actually that's not that anonymous as they have your e-mail address (if you're referring to deja (which got takem over by google)).

"The moderators are useless to say the least." - ah you only say that because you haven't got the +1 bonus!
Well seeing as I was born in 1980 and lived in the U.K. that'll be why!

The first time I've seen Compuserve written like that is by you - mind you I don't often see the word Compuserve at all!
If they weren't making trouble about it would the item be a news story on /.?
It was meant to be humourous not inane.
All right, all right - calm down it's only a video card!
Who *hasn't* had problems with drivers under Windows XP?
Could someone explain the joke for me?
Question is did you actually know what o-volving was before I wrote that?
"You haven't made a single intelligent comment yet." - You mean you've read all 631 of my comments?

Ah but it's publicity and publicity = free advertising!
