The energy companies are already expanding out into solar power & other forms of energy - what makes you think they won't just see this as another potential market? After all once it's turned into electricity it's all the same whether it's made from oil, coal, gas or hydrogen.
cars still run on petrol, lorries still use oil derivatives - there'd have to be a *lot* of conversion before hydrogen was used and who'd pay for it all?
Well in England people are so glad to get broadband I'm sure they'd put up with poor customer service - as to the service getting worse as more users sign up - well it's just a fact of life if the provider isn't determined to upgrade their systems to cope with demand.
I got addicted to Utopia too! Finally decided enough was enough - I wasn't enjoying the new age anyway. Quitting was hard - but in the end worth it. When I wrote on/. about being addicted to Utopia I just got berated by someone who said it's impossible!

Libraries already pay extra for books because they loan them out (at least they do in the U.K. anyway).
"Bezos wants everyone to be 'super-clear' that Amazon.com is supportive of and good for authors," - so that's why the Guild of authors wrote:
"Amazon's practice does damage to the publishing industry,.."?
Shouldn't your question be the other way round ie
"When will we see Gnome integrated into OpenOffice and Mozilla more effectively?"

Odd to think that the more diskless workstations you add to your network, the faster it becomes!
