    The Last Revision

    The Draftsman and the Engineer
    are men of skill and vision.
    At least they are until they hear
    the hated word -- REVISION.

    The Engineer with practiced eye
    surveys his grand design.
    The Draftsman draws so expertly
    each complicated line.

    "Complete," they sigh contentedly,
    "Miraculous Precision."
    Oh, Optimists! Tomorrow brings
    catastrophe! REVISION!

    Revision One adds this piece;
    Revision Two improves it.
    Revision Three makes it just right;
    then Revision Four removes it.

    "You can't do this, you can't do that."
    "We'll wait for a decision."
    "But in the meantime, just revise
    that last revised Revision."

    Revise! Revise! The very word
    fills Engineers with dread.
    Tho' die they must, they'll be revised
    to make damn sure they're dead.

    They hope that God's no Engineer
    when he makes his decision.
    If once they win their wings they hope
    there'll be no Last Revision.

    Agreed. Not everyone "deserves" a degree (I'm not talking about perceived ability, rather potential).

    I'm assuming that most will agree that there are a lot of "feelgood, will pay" degrees given to otherwise unemployable individuals.

    When the bits explode from a rotating drive you always have the option of collecting them manually from the inside of the case and re-assembling via backup. You cannot do this with SSD.

    In order to bring some sanity to this situation I propose that we adopt a 5 year plan during which some people will get SSDs and others will get the spinners. It'll have to be a random lottery-style thing, so as to not give the impression of market control.

    Even for 3D CAD (which I do) use, even two 19" screens is stretching things a bit. Pun unintended. When intensely focusing on detail you can easily get neck pain from side-to-side head motion. At home I use a 30" 2560x1600 panel and that's a bit better (it replaced 2-19"s and 2-22"s in a quad setup) but still takes a lot of movement.
