forgive me. i assumed that the school district would appeal to have the entire appellate court rule on the decision. i believe it's within their rights to do so. if they do that, the decision would most likely be overturned. then there wouldn't be a prob with the supreme's refusing to hear it. i apologize, as i didn't say this in my previous post.
in all likelihood, if it makes it to the supreme court level, the court will just refuse to hear it. they've made comments in previous rulings that said the actual text of the pledge wasn't unconstitutional...only coercing people to speak it (i.e. requiring it).
pffffffffffffffft...allow me to excercise my first amendment right in saying that this ruling is crap and won't stand up if it makes it past this level of apellate court. hell, probably won't make it past a gathering of the entire court (this ruling was made by a "panel", or portion of the actual court it's ruling was handed down from. they can call the rest of the court in order to rule on it again, which is probably what will happen).
dude...bill gates DID at one time say that 64k should be enough. it's obvious in hindsight that he was wrong, hence the reason the original poster was JOKING. get your panties out of a bunch.
did you know the number one thing the japanese buy when vacationing in the United States is japanese electronics? i shit thee negative, saw it on the travel channel (god i love that channel). they're just cheaper here.
as a consumer society we do have debts, but their not obvious "you owe me this much" debts. we have big trade deficits with a couple other countries (japan is the major one. everyone wants a Clie.) that is technically considered debt.
technically, apple does build PC's. keep in mind that PC was once a term that meant Personal Computer (so very long ago...*sigh*). It's only since the death of O/S2 and the dominance of Wintel boxes that PC came to mean non-Mac, even though the Mac was one of the first real PC's that the general public could latch onto.
Of course, I'd actually BUY an album if what the labels put out didn't suck. I find it hard to part with 20 bucks for a shitty album composed of popular tripe. Goldfingers last album was good though.
ever since the iPod came out i've been wondering why a PDA maker doesn't make one based on a hard drive. maybe they have one in the works. if they do i might actually buy a PDA.
Distance my friend...distance. That and you don't have to buy the bandwidth in your home off of a major backbone peddler like At&T every month. Broadband and Dial-up companies alike do, and the backbones charge a hefty penny per Gig.
I pay 50 bucks a month to Cox...get 3 Megs downstream and 256 Up...it seems that I'm a rarity in the/. community. All of you talk about caps at 1.5/128 or 1/56(*gasp* such a thing exists?!).
Firewire hasa max speed of 400 megabits/sec
USB 2 has a max of 480 megabits/sec
At this point yes, USB 2 is faster than the fastest AVAILABLE Firewire. However, Apple (or whoever, I can't remember exactly) will be introducing Firewire 2 later this year. It's got a max speed of 1600 Megabits/sec, hence the extremely retarded Gigawire name.

or your ISP's nice 10 meg limit.
the slashdot community seems to be a tad short on sarcasm as of late...

I love it...now all I need to do is get off my lazy bum and start a cox.net account and I can rid myself of every Microsoft except the OS.

Dude, you hop 20 comps on a single T-1 and your connections gonna be slower than a dial-up.
