My Dad wrote a review about Konfabulator!?! I don't think I would trust his review of anything that didn't involve teachers, horses, or farm equipment.
thats how long my backorder on the 17" powerbook is. My concern with 802.11g is that it seems extremely distance limited, my dlink 614+ can push 22mbit over 2.4ghz, but it sucks because you need to be right next to the damn thing to get that much throughput. I'd rather have 11mbit and actually be able to get some distance with it.
This is just a netcam broadcasted over CATV, the quality is 1/2 as good as a standard CATV feed too. I can see the advantages of this from a cost perspective, but personally I think the quality of community access is bad to begin with, not to mention the shows actually broadcasted.
Anytime I track down spam that I get it almost always is coming from servers located outside the US. While this is great for dealing with US originating spam, will it be effective for foreign countries?
Prelimenary tests indicate the Mac may be faster than PCs in RAW image conversion afterall.
I know your joking, but I feel a/. beginning. From the above quote it looks like it's pretty specific on what the Mac is said to be faster at, it doesn't say that it's faster at everything.
The thing that holds me back from buying Sony products is their memory stick. If they would use Smart Digital or Compact Flash I'd get one is a heartbeat.
I've setup a wireless network that was farther than this away and was faster @ 802.11b. Why is this on the front page? Oh yea I saw linux mentioned on the site.
I think the next generation of cases will be those made by companies that try to use as little space as possible, (yes they do need to ensure that there are no heat problems.). I've grown tired of having a tower case that doesn't tuck away under anything, and make so much noise I can hear the fans in the nearby room. My next computer will probably use a shuttle case/motherboard for these exact reasons.
I tend to agree with this stance, I think free software is great and I certainly appreciate those that spend the time making it and donating there work. However, many people simply don't have the time to work on huge projects in there spare time for no compensation.
The main thing to consider is that if you want job growth/security, is that you always continue to learn. People that think they are done learning after college are the ones who in 5 years find themselves knowing less than a new hired employee. If you continue to learn, adapt to changes, and keep an open mind you will find yourself in positions to take on new roles inside or outside of your current job.
Everyone says Linux doesn't cost anything, while the software may not, re-training the employees, tweaking the software, etc, is all part of that cost. How much does linux cost to deploy to all your servers/workstations? Figure out how much it costs per hour for all your employees to be re-educated, your IT department to fix potential issues, etc. If this number is less than what it wold cost you over the next few years of software upgrades then you have a winner, otherwise you are probably better off keeping the existing infrastruture.
BTW I can tell none of you know anything about how the DMCA works, the ISP just passes on the complaint that is alleged by the company who informed us with their evidence, should the information be incorrect the accused can sue the company who made the complaint. In the case that the person who sues sucessfully defends theirselves in court, there service would be restored.
We recieve a list of copyright materials that were sucessfully downloaded from the individual. As the law currently stands, we have to uphold the request of the copyright holder, and if we don't do this then we can have legal action brought against us.
If you don't like the law, I would suggest contacting your senator.
While they may not know _WHAT_ you're sending they would certainly be aware that you are sending large amounts of information, most ISPS have clauses that allow them to terminate the service of individuals who use excessive amounts of bandwidth (and usually they don't state what qualifies as excessive).
At my present job, we recieve DMCA violation tickets sent to us, which include the ip address of the customer that was sharing files. We then track down the customer based on the ARP logs and issue them a letter notifying them that they are in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy which prohibits the usage of servers on a residential service, as well as our clauses that allow us to terminate a customers service. If we recieve 3 DCMA tickets from a particular customer we permanetly terminate their service.
On a side note, due to the asynchrous nature of most cable modem service, as well as the fact that a node is essentially a LAN, I can certainly understand the concern about people constantly uploading files. Saturating the forward path can cause problems with download traffic as TCP requires ACK packets to be sent stating that a packet has reached it's destination, if the ACK packet is not recieved the packet needs to be re-transmited. So the next time you think your not causing any problems for anyone when you spent the last 2 weeks on Kazaa allowing people to leech files think again.

Bobby Fischer praised the 9/11 attacks over the radio. He can go to hell and burn for all I care.

I loved being from Wisconsin for a reason :).

At my company our corporate email was down for a day, our phone systems didn't work, and the dns servers were up and down.

Duke Nukem FOREVER, it's like they were psychics or somrthing.
LOL, crack head.
LOL and you posted as 'anonymous coward'.
I've yet to see an ISP that gurantees a speed, they usually state that your speeds will be up to or exceed.
