    If the internet would be around at their time - who knows? But none of those is music. Star Trek needs money to make a show, artists don't need that much to make music. Star Wars is made by their own company. Max Payne - I don't care. Same with Steven King. So you see basicly I don't care where they would be, they have to care for themself. But I would really like new/unknown artists to have an equal chance, and without beeing ripped off by some company.

    You know that piracy is killing poeple on the sea, not copying CD's. Copying CD's is just that - illegal copying, don't let the music and sofware industry compare that with murder.

    If the CDR tax makes music copying legal. And the money is distributed between artists and free software programmers AND those damn recording companies don't see a cent of it. Then I would like to pay more for my CDR's.

    If you can make a perfect copy of the car... Then the only who would complain would be the company that sells those cars and distributors would whine even more. But I don't think you wouldn't make a perfect copy af a Ferrari for 1000$ if you could.

    Artist sales, I see recording companies whining here. Artists could survive without them, but could the companies survive without artists?

    Even if, why not move away from eye candy, and make something usefull, like working support for the special symbols of Latvian, sure I can read Latvian web pages, but I haven't managed to write anything in Latvian under Linux yet. For me the KDE vs GNOME issue will be soved when one of them does correct support for Latvian wich I can use without messing around for weeks. So long I am staying with windows (and until I get my Ati-all-in-wonder showing some TV).

    If you really want to get technical you should keep in mind that computer "games" really aren't games at all due to the limited number of outcomes possible. To be correct you should call them "computer puzzles". There are very much real games thet have limited outcomes too, should I call them "real lifed puzzles"?

    Well, mandrake could NOT offer you the download, sure someone else could, but I think more people would buy this way - no need to search the whole internet and/or wait until someone who bought it would upload it. Of course I would still search and download as I cant aford to buy it at the moment (student) and there are no shops with shelves full of software here in Latvia.

    "...which only works if the company you do the work for can afford it by making money otherwise..." Companies that have similar needs can come together and still need to pay the same amount. Then they only need to pay again if they need new features, bugfixes etc. not every two years.
