This. I deleted my facebook account 3 years ago because of all the bullshit. My wife still has one and it's gotten several orders of worse since I dropped it. The latest thing they did about how they handle messages now has her so pissed off she's considering dropping it too. They want to tie up your entire world in facebook and it becomes more than annoying.

You missed the point I think. AOL, Compuserve and Prodigy used to rule. Now look, it's Facebook and Twitter and Instagram. They'll have their day too then it will be something else after they pass and e-mail will still be here.

Don't know. All I know is what they were talking about in the hearing on C-SPAN. Evidently they were abiding by state regulations in the matter. I had a lot of interest at the time as I had only been working at Robins for a few years and I knew one of the depots was going to get closed.

Figures it's a UF student. In a state with swamps teeming with alligators he's got to ask his phone what to do with a dead body. This is why a college education costs so much. Trying to teach dumb asses like this anytihing beyond beer chugging has got to cost a fortune. He sounds like a futre CEO.

It's impossible to get anything past the red tape and bullshit without the costs skyrocketing therefore it's impossible to do it in California. I remeber watching the BRAC hearings on CSPAN when they were getting ready to close one of the US Air Force maintenance depots back in the 90's. One of the BRAC people started talking about the depot at Sacremento and how the California EPA was using a chit system there. The base got so many pollution chits. They had to use like 3 chits for a functional test flight, more chits for things like operating generators and AGE equipment and so on. Once they used up their month's allocation of pollution chits they were through for the month. If it was 10 days into the month.....they were through for the month. The Air Force closed Sacremento. Most of the people who came to Robins AFB seemed pleased with the transfer though.

Government subsidies don't count in cost effectiveness. Someone is paying the bill. Sure I'd install solar panels if they were damn near free. What idiot wouldn't? But it's not really free because someone has to pay for it.

It's certainly true in my case. I'm an asshole and proud of it. Being an asshole means giving out shit instead of taking it. Most of my friends are assholes too. My policy with people like Netflix is simple, I don't give them my money. I can tell they don't care as their policies show that up front. Not caring about customers always bites you in the end if you're not a monopoly like Microsoft.

Some people think they should have free Solar Panels paid for by the utilities and government. The cost for 3 cottages was quoted as 106,000 dollars but I keep seeing where in California people are installing panels for a tiny fraction of that. I guess that shows just how much of the cost is being subsidized. Solar advocates keep touting how inexpensive it is but here we see the true cost. I wonder how long it'll take to recoup over 30 grand per installation?

You know, there is an exception to everything. You can't legally scream "FIRE" in a crowded public place as a joke. That's because the possible harm outweighs the harm of censorship. Even though you obviously disagree, the public, for it's own protection has decreed child porn images illegal. This censorship is held to be in the best interest of society. My own political leanings border on anarchy but in this I have to support censorship as well. To allow publishing of this kind of material is worse than censorship.

I'm running Mavericks on a Late 2008 Macbook 13" Unibody and I have to say it's not significantly better than Snow Leopard. I remeber when I upgraded my iBook G4 to Tiger it ran much better than it had ever before. When I went to Leopard it actually ran slightly slower until I optimized the OS for it. I later obtained the 2008 Macbook and when I upgraded it to Snow Leopard it ran like a scalded dog. I'd say it was at least a third again faster than Leopard. Upgrade to Lion seemed sluggish at first but by the 3rd update it ran about the same as SL. Mountain Lion seemed much better but Mavericks seemed to slow down the UI. As far as all the Bells and Whistles they've added I can't say they matter that much to me. As far as I'm concerned Snow Leopard seemed to have everything I needed. I just upgraded because if you don't keep on the latest OS you start to miss out on security updates.
