    Yeah...they vote. They vote for tweedle dee or tweedle dum. Give me a break. The fact that 90 percent are idiots are why we suffer under the two mafia system. They can't conceive of voting for anyone who is not part of one of the two parties. Thus they get a choice between the nut cases from the left or the nut cases from the right. Less and less moderates every day in government and more and more extremists.

    I'd bet my life that government wont be able to solve it. If you think that sad pathetic bunch of kiss ass money grubbers in Washington can solve anything you're strongly deluded. There's a reason that the constitution was written to limit the power of government. The founders recognized something that we've forgotten today. That government is a necessary evil. You have to have it but it must be tightly controlled or it will turn around and eat you. The medling of the government with the banking industry is an excellent case in point. I'm still trying to figure how giving failed banks more money to piss away is constitutionally legal.

    But often in the case of the Mac, this may be your ONLY way to get software, for older machines. run the newer stuff, say the new iLife versions? You can't buy the older ones....where are you supposed to get it?

    Try ebay, or one of numerous mac software houses. Older versions of iLife can be picked up for next to nothing complete with the retail box. If you fool around in the cesspool of piracy don't be suprised if you end up with a bad smell.

    The flash drive ban is aimed at internal attacks. The problem is not as much the internet as the vulnerability of the internal network. Personally I think running windows on commdoity hardware is silly for any part of the military industrial complex. They should be running something like SElinux or maybe OpenBSD on hardware with the operating system in ROM. Come on...Flash!? Javascript??? wtf!?

    This is a good reason to start an independent forum on any one of a number of forum hosting sites, preferably out of the reach of BT.

    I suspect that any forum that becomes too critical of BT's policies would simply become unreachable on their network.

    I'm hopeful that he's up to the challenge. I didn't support him but this country really needs for him to succeed. I know a lot of people are resentful but the fact is that for the next 4 years he's going to be the man in charge. If he fails to properly handle the problems we have now the country will suffer gravely for it. We need to pray for God to give him wisdom and guidance.

    yep....I know all about that. I wasn't going to vote at all in the presidential election but since McCain picked Governor Palin to be his VP I changed my mind. I like her so much I wish SHE was the Republican candidate for president. Since McCain is 77 and spent 6 years getting the living hell beat out of him has affected his health....I figure there's a good chance she might end up being President Palin one day.

    Healthcare is not a right. First you have to pay for it. If not you then your employer or the government(other people).

    Now you set out to drive up the cost of healthcare so even more people wont be able to afford it. Of course we could socialize it. Not a good idea but I guess it'll have to be done with the way government regulations are going only a minority of the population will be able to afford it. Imagine the nightmare that government run healthcare will be. Better than nothing I suppose.....barely.

I'd say that the fact that the Hauppauge PVR-150 works at all on linux is a sign that linux doesn't suck. The fact is that despite the fact that Hauppauge and other similar manufacturers are hostile to linux and refuse to write drivers or to provide the info for others to write them there are still many cards that do work. This is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of OSS developers who should be lauded for their hard work and perseverance but instead are slammed by the ignorant who wrongly place the blame on them instead of the real culprits. If you want to bitch about your remote not working on linux....call Hauppauge and bitch at them!

    Actually there is nothing forbidding making a profit from GPL software. You must make the source available but you are free to sell it. I bought many boxed sets of SUSE over the years....until they signed up with micro$oft.

    The problem is that OS X is absolutely horrible to use even when it's installed and everything is working. Oh come on! It's not horrible. I like Ubuntu better but Tiger is a really great operating system. Very stable and usable...Leopard is a work in progress and feels kind of bloated but even it isn't "horrible." Even windoze xp isn't "horrible." The company that make it is but xp is pretty stable. Vista....Vista is horrible!

    I partially agree. OS X is dead simple to install. I've installed it on several macs and it always went without the slightest hitch. But then, Apple made the computer! Anything less would be unacceptable. I've installed windows a few times....it's not really difficult but it's a bit of a pain. I didn't find it any more difficult really than installing Ubuntu except for having to reboot multiple times during patch install. Having said that though....it's not something casual computer users could do. I've had to help many friends with a windows install...they always seem to get confused somewhere.

    US Military Bases are small towns. They have Burger Kings, Shopping areas, Pools, Golf Courses, Snack Bars and Grills, picnic areas, fishing lakes, child care centers, housing areas....etc. For most of the Base the security is fairly low level. They screen people coming in but it can be evaded if you are determined. Once inside they have areas that are high security. Don't try your luck with those. They've got 19 year olds with automatic weapons that have been brainwashed to the max and are very serious about security. I used to work on perimeter security equipment....those cops are scary. More than one person I know has found themselves in the wrong area....face down on concrete with a locked and loaded M16 to the back of the head. It's not any fun.

    I truly believe that time is not linear. The bible I think makes this point with the "a thousand years is as a day" statement. Lot's of other interesting things in the bible. I think it's in Job where it states that "he hangeth the earth upon nothing." I know most people here don't believe in the bible or God...at least not the biblical one. Even if you don't believe it though...it's still an interesting read.
