I've seen the thrill seeker bottles at my place of work (domino's pizza), and i will purchase one to day and pull it apart... i've spent many intimate hours with these things while stocking the fridges and they dont look any larger or any different than the normal bottles (no difference in size or anything).. my assumption is that they use a very short range transmitter in combination with inventory and shipping records to determine the bottles location.. then follow it out the door.
In australia voting is all done on paper, and moreso it is compulsory.. and there is rarely any trouble with the process.
Every person over 18 goes onto a voting roll, they check you off that list when you enter a venue that has been set up to take votes (or when they receive an absentee vote by mail), they hand you a peice of paper, you tick the appropriate boxes and place it into a large locked container.
Simple, and there is a paper trail, and the expenense of counting the votes by hand is minimal.
Australia seems one of the better places to live at the moment.. too bad were following in americas footsteps as fast as possible:(
As far as i know no mobile providers in australia charge for incoming sms/mms messages, and as such, spamming on mobile devices is becoming quite common here.
Good sir, i beleive you are thinking of a TeleSync (cinema rip), rather than a Screener (preview dvd sent out to certain individuals, some of whom are illegally distributing it). More often than not screeners are available before the shitty telesyncs of which you speak.
Personally i beleive that soon enough the use of computers will be outlawed unless you have a specific reason for using them. This is pure speculation buy they could be replaced by severly crippled and purpose specific replacelemts, eg the smartphone, console gaming system, and a stripped down system to write letters and such.
the days of general purpose hardware are numbered.
Just as a note, i actually work in an enviroment where cameras have been put in place, and have been there for some time... they dont really do anything, everyone just congregates in the small "black spots" where they arent being monitored...
It hasnt really changed anything.. its just made the areas where you can sit on breaks a little smaller... major annoyance..
In schools however it think this would be a great thing, i went to a small private school, and as such had the same teacher for calculus, physics and discrete mathematics.. he was hardly competent and covered this up by simply mocking the students (we all had to get private tuition in order to get a passing grade), had cameras been in place maybe our complaints would of been heard.
There are lots of issues to consider here, firstly the daughter claim... his daughter may have had a vendetta against him because he molested her, or she knew that he was commiting acts against children and just wanted him to get what was coming to him. Who knows...
also the other thing to consider (and i have some experience in this) when i was getting started in computers and did some stupid things (bruteforcing passwords from my own system), i always ran a copy of BO on my own pc, so i could blame "the evil hackers" if it came down to it. Possibly he was doing the same thing with much more sinister acts.
Either way, this defence is flawed and in my opinion the prosecution could have done a whole lot better on this one.

My understanding of this technology is that it does not rely on a battery but uses the power from the initial radio signal (the one that contacts the device) in order to reply with its ID, so battery lifespan should not be an issue... (feel free to correct me if im wrong).
An idea, couldnt this same technology be used to allow passive recharging of laptops (radio signals exist basicly everywhere), so why not tap them to get a bit more time before your lappy dies?
there arent many cell towers in the middle of the ocean, and im not sure if a sattalite phone would work with a craft moving that quickly.
If anyone knows more about this feel free to correct me!
I havnt actually played it... AU$60 always seemed a little pricey for something like that..
but i did read some magazine reviews and they ASSURED me that the game was good. so I'm basing my post on that.
Neither are neccisery, but it supports both :)
people who cry about overpopulation and then turn around and say "hey lets donate money for cancer/aids research" piss me off somewhat.
