I think you're reading that wrong. The alpha channel is an optional part of any PNG image. I'm pretty sure they're not saying that browsers should only support alpha transparency if they feel like it.
Probably most people that buy something from the Itunes Music Store do it with one-click buying. You click on a buy it button and it downloads the song and starts playing. You're sent a statement later on. Apple licensed one-click from Amazon.
I don't think they're setting up 2D to fail. At this point, they're just ignoring it. Why push Pooh when you know that The Incredibles is guaranteed to do well and bring in buckets and buckets of merchandising money?
Because you know that you kicked the people that made The Incredibles for you (Pixar) out the door.
Disney needs to get rid of Eisner yesterday. He (and his rubber-stamp board) has driven off a lot of creative talent from Disney: Katzenberg, Pixar, the Weinstein brothers.
Yes. When I insert a CD to rip, I'll always look at the info and correct it first (when needed) before ripping it. It's pretty easy when you type Command+i (or Control+i on Windows) while the CD is selected in the source list. This lets you edit all of the common fields for each song on the CD.
That's the story as I see it unfolding. Steve Jobs finally beats Bill Gates. And with the sale of Apple to Intel, Steve accepts the position of CEO of the Pixar/Disney/Sony Media Company.
It's a goof. And most everyone here is going for it hook, line, and sinker.
"On NTFS, creator of the file IS stores, and there are also fields for Created, Modified and Accessed dates."
Un-huh. But are they useful?
We were talking about a particular instance when having last accessed information would be useful when finding files. I mentioned that we have that in Spotlight and it is instantly indexed and searchable. You didn't need to butt in with your "but, but, but, but NTFS has that too!" As I recall WinFS has been dropped from Longhorn. Quoth Microsoft:
"UPDATE: In spite of what may be stated in this content, WinFS is not a feature that will come with the Longhorn Operating System. However, WinFS will be available on the Windows platform at some future date, which is why this content continues to be provided for your information."
Look at what happened when Aopen tried to make an x86 mac-mini competitor-- it was $100 more, without the OS, making it really $200 more expensive than the mini.
Where can you buy a copy of Windows XP Professional for $100? Or were you suggesting paying $100 for a Linux distro & support?
Intel cannot just take an existing PowerPC design and manufacture it. It doesn't work that way.
Why not? Of course they have to retool for it, but there is no reason they can't use existing designs.
Intel probably wants to get into the PowerPC business a lot more than Apple wants to run on x86. Intel lost a lot of business when the Xbox switched from x86 to PowerPC. And I'm sure they want that business back.
Apple has had a battery replacement program for quite a while now. This is NOT an issue for the majority of people that are accepted by this class. It would only affect owners of first generation Ipods.

Yes, because Microsoft is a monopolist!
Besides, Apple doesn't include all of those applications with Mac OS X. They're included with Macs.

It does if you don't check the Compilation box. That checkbox should only be used when an album is a compilation of songs from multiple artists.

Spotlight also remembers the last time a file was used even if it wasn't altered in addition to the last modified date.
And what is wrong with that journalist that actually went along with Frog's stupid game and kept the name lowercase through-out the article.
I can forgive him typing "Searchlight" instead of "Spotlight," but not that.
Itunes's artist\album\song file & folder structure makes it hard to find things?
Why is everyone on Slashdot so Euro-centric? There are other places on this strange planet, you know.
This explains how the WSJ missed Steve Jobs' e-mail saying "we're not moving to Intel, jackasses!"

Low-end Macs already have better graphics chips than Intel makes.
...and my first gen. is still running strong.

They're called apple newtons.
You're thinking of Google's Secret Lair.
You don't see the flaw in that?
Distributing these works isn't personal use. Everything else is.
What does this have to do with activism? This is what judges are supposed to do.
Now that is something I'd actually go watch! As long as Robert Rodriguez doesn't insist on it being filmed in 3D.
