    Every place that speaks English does too, except the USA
    In Canada, today is August 2nd, 2006. I don't know why most Canadians would use dd/mm/yy when it is spoken mm/dd/yy. Of course, I just use yyyy-mm-dd and all is clear.

    Do a two-part demonstration. In the first part, get him to hold a box of Kleenex length-up on top of his head and hit the box downward with a baseball bat. In the second part, substitute the box of Kleenex with a brick.

    OTOH there was a philosopher called Karl Marx whos work has been much abused.

    I think it's because his preface which read "This is entirely a work of fantasy; do not attempt at home" was lost from the manuscript he submitted to his publisher.

    At an anti capitalist demo (I'm not a loony, but I do think some of the issues raised at those demos need to be raised - like subsidising the third world out of the world markets etc

    It sounds a lot like you're PRO-capitalist. Government subsidization is anti-capitalist.

    It's not so rosey up here in Canada. This past Canada Day the Victoria police instituted a policy of manditory searches on all buses heading downtown.

    I recently saw a cop hassling a guy who was taking pictures next to the Department of National Defence headquarters in downtown Ottawa. I don't know if they busted him or not. He was a white guy.

    I think it's more of a societal thing in that women aren't so much encouraged to go into IT.... or maybe it's intertia.... I dunno. But a sexist environment? I don't think you can generalize like that.

    Or maybe it's just that you're the one-in-a-thousand women who have an actual interest in IT. Ask your female friends why they didn't go into IT. Even though they will be a highly biased sample (since your friends are most likely to be like yourself), I would expect them to say that they are more interested in something else, many of them, ANYTHING else.

    Maybe, just maybe, if women...can be provided with a supportive environment, we'll find that women are interested in tech.

    And how many times does this need to be attempted before people accept this assertion as being false? Far fewer women are interested in tech than are men. The only way to "correct" this is to force women into careers they don't want.

    I predict that in 20 years, all products will simply be called 'X'. There will be a lucrative business in replacing the 'X' key on keyboards. Then, all English words will be replaced by the trendy 'X'. X, x x x x x, x x x x x x x-x x. X!

    The Nature Of Things (one of the greatest science documentary shows ever created)

    The series should have been renamed to "Here's Another Endangered Species; Oh, How Foolish We Are!". I'm not sure if there were any episodes with a different theme.

    As for Corner Gas, that's CTV, not CBC.

    It's too bad that the second season has almost zero laughs.

    The only Can-Con that was on my must-watch list was Traders.

    This is simply the view of the pro-life crowd. It's not that complicated.

    My view is that a baby has no distinction from an animal until it learns to talk at about a year of age. Therefore, the parents should legally be allowed to "put the baby to sleep" until this point, provided that it is done humanely. Discuss.

    On these three, you seem to be saying that non-competition is good for consumers.

    Government's either implies possession or is short for government is, it doesn't belong on a plural.

    Dammit, learn to use semicolons! Two complete sentences separated by a comma make a run-on sentence.

    The decline of the Islamic world has anything to do only with the decreasing levels of Faith as was predicted by the Prophet Mohammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. It happened, and everything that happens is by the will of Creator.

    I'll bet that the building costs for a high-rise are a lot less than the building costs for 250 Texas ranches. I'd bet the maintenance and supply costs are lower, also.
