You can also easily use a webcache if your server can't handle the load. It's 3 lines in your apache config:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^CoralWebPrx.*
    RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http:///{HTTP_HOST}.nyud.net:8080/$1 [L]

Your server only has to reply with redirects and feed content to the caches.

But of course it's better to use static files for content that is static anyway.

What's even more funny about that "most users use IE" is that most users also use text-oriented UA, similar to Lynx. These UAs are called search-bots and the user use them as Google, Yahoo, ... Now I want to see the manager, who tries to make it look similar in Lynx and IE. Because presentation is that important.

Apple is not about unlimited options and choice. They offer hardware, which should make many people happy and add some software, which they think might be useful for the same people. I.e. I love OmniGraffle, which came with my Powerbook. But I still don't know what OmniOutliner could do for me.

The upside of not having a choice is not to have to think about countless options. Don't make me thing, sell me something that works and I'll fix the little quirks.

If you don't like to pay for the whole package, buy something cheaper. Apple TV might be a good choice then. But at least don't claim the Mac mini would be more expensive. It's not. That's what the discussion is about.

PHP also has those crazy globals floating all over the place.

Which crazy globals do you mean? You don't have any globals in functions or method unless you import them. Or do you mean the 9 super globals? I don't know what's crazy about them. The way they are written is very easy to distinguish from other variables. Thus if you don't want them to be used directly it's very easy to enforce your rules with a simple grep.

I guess you have more time in real life, even in an emergency situation. And that's the reason for the 90 seconds. A test always has to be better than the real life situation. In the paramedic course I did some years ago they told us, if someone doesn't know how to do the breathing just do the compression.

First of all the breathing is difficult to do right, especially in a stress situation. Also someone who doesn't breath will have heart problems soon and vice versa. There's also enough oxygen still in the blood for the next 10 minutes. And after 10 minutes the ambulance should arrive anyway.

Of course that's now what a paramedic on duty should do. But with an anesthesia bag it's also much easier. The rule is more for your typical first aider or if you don't have anything with you to avoid getting in direct contact with the sick person. Call 112 or 911 on concentrate on the compression.

Maybe you should also understand that just because someone isn't against you that doesn't mean he is with you. So if I don't answer your question that could mean it's just not worth an answer or my time.

But let's use your opinion about conceding points. You had no argument against the XMLReader as found in newer PHP version or PECL. So that means it's a good solution and could help to write a better template language. Thank you very much for the discussion. I'll now stop feeding the troll.

And I did never say a good and easy template engine needs a language that support generators. That's your shit. What I said was that something similar to Kid could be done in PHP. Including being light on memory. You can't stop talking about generators and thus aren't answering my post.

At least I accept that Smarty isn't the right choice for you. I just don't understand why you invest so much time if you really hate it. You could just ignore it.
