  1. some rules....of mine on Jobs for Students - Where Are They? · · Score: 2, Funny

Make sure every one you know, from your aunt who works in health care to your drugie high school friend knows you are looking for a job, and has a copy of your resume.

Contact all your old employers, make sure they know also, see if they have any openings, or know of any, in the industry, send them an updated copy, and get letters of recomendations from all of them, even if it was a McJob.

Have samples of work to show prospective employers.

apply to a minimmum of 5 jobs a day!

Never use the auto submit for a job posted on a job board unless no other contact info is given.

Include a Cover letter with Every Submition.
use words in your cover letter that are used in the job description.

and last show up to the interview DRUNK!

OK when you buy a coke at mcdonald's you are dealing with a local monoply. In that if you want something to wash down that McGrease you need to buy a drink from them as most won't allow food from outside sources in there dinning area, for health reasons..

Second Cola products are quite close to a monopoly, ts a two headed monopoly but still. Coke and Pepsi are very much price fixing and limiting the availability other cola products.

Example: walk into ANY fast food restaurant and try to buy any cola drink that is not owned by either Coke or Pepsi....
with the exception of Snaple (which I think is still independent) it can't be done.

About a year ago I tried to switch, cold turkey.
But I couldn't it was to hard to switch.
I Lost My OS, and all my app's at the same time.
I was infuriating because I was trained on Windows, thus things that I could do in 2 minutes took 1 hour in Linux, it sucked, so I switched back.

any way I now Run A Dual Boot Usually in Win2k but I decided that to make the transition easier I need as common an Interface as I can get between the two, So if I find a mature App (OpenOffice, Mozilla, MySQL, Eclipse) which runs on both I use it in both environments. Instead of the Windows Equivalent

And it is so much easier to switch between the 2 now because I learnt the new applications in an environment I was familiar with.

My Main Problem now is There Are Several Apps, which I am finding it hard to replace.

Message Client (Compatible with MSN Messenger),
    File Manager,
    Task Manager,
    A quick Launch Bar,
    an Icon Editor,
    a Graphics Editor,
    a text editor....etc

I can Find an app to do these things in Windows or Linux but not both.

I don't think I will be ready to switch full time till I can cut this list in half.

    Got any help?

OK This is My Problem with New-York-Times Registration.

When you login you are presented with 3 fields.
    [login name]
    [pass word]
[remember my login on this computer]

my entire objection to NY-Times is that the third field IS_selected_by_DEFAULT.

It should be deselected by default, this goes for all similar dialog boxes, like the ones that say

Do you want to do something.?
    [Yes]
    [No]
    ["don't ask me this again"]

the last field should always be unselected by default.

Its really annoying to have to make that one extra click ever frig-in time I want to log in.
So I have to make 2 times as many clicks as I should have to.
Where as if it was the other way the people who want auto login would only have to make one Total extra click, not one per login.

Any way thats my rant and I am sticking to it!
