The Irritating thing is that large businesses can get away with anticompetitive behavior and then, at the last minute get off scott free. why don't the file sharing or P2P crowd have the same Deal?
well, ok consider this. I have gone through about four complete record collections in my life starting from about 10 to the present (35) records tapes and CD's have been lost, stolen and damaged over the years. I have purchased Dark side of the moon four or five times for on different formats for example. if I am paying for a license don't I have the right to get the music on a new medium for just the cost of manufacturing ? When a CD gets damaged should I not be entitled to a cost replacement or a copy?
There is a band called Marillion that the CD I bought (after I got a tape copy from a friend) developed a defect. I couldn't fing it online and it was out of print. I checked music stores for years when I went on vacation. Finally, It was re-released in europe. a Record store in Miami said they could get it. I actually Pre-paid for it and TWO years later the finally got it. I actually picked it up two VACATIONS later...
The point is once I've paid for the album once dosen't that entitle me to the product on any format for the cost of the format alone ?
The problem is that the customers REFUSE to vote with thier wallets this also applys to 'copy protected' (read corrupted) CD's. If thier target market which is something like 10-30 year olds would just refuse to buy any RIAA products for just a month or two it would send quite a message
PuhLEEZE ! It's not even in the same League as the Space Ghost Desk, Come back when you've Spent (Wasted?) at least 35K and no, the house Surrounding your desk does not count !!
Yeah, I was debating as to if I should even post and I was trying to come up with at least one point that was not to stupid. All joking aside, this seems to be an application that is screaming for an open source or at least a BSD style solution. In the automotive business even pennies count so why would an automotive manufacturer even consider a solution which would have licensing issues ?
I was going to make a windows joke about this and then decided to actualy RTFA before posting and there it was, Windows CE!
a few questions if automakers decide on windows...
1, will I have to agree to a Microsoft EULA in order to use the car?
2, will I need a separate Windows License for each Driver?
3, Will I be able to sell the car later or will I need to erase the operating system first ?
4, Will Windows DRM restrict what CDs I can play in the stereo? (will I even be able to install an aftermarket radio ?)
5, Finally will I crash if Windows Crashes while I'm crusing down the highway at 65MPH ?
But, How far can this scale up ? A balsa wood R/C aircraft is cool and all but I'm willing to bet that it will be a long time before we'll see one carring a human passenger
Well, It sure beats leaving it on the front seat... It's less of a theft target in the trunk.
Tough one to Mod, Yeah it's trolling But it's also Damn funny if not original
