"Free" web hosting has never been free. I have tried several of them to cut costs for uncoveror.com, and they all fed pop-ups, many of which pushed spyware like gator and bonzi if they were not closed carefully. I would rather pull the plug than do that to readers, so I went to paid hosting. Last time I checked, none of my banner or text ads fed spyware.

HP used to be called Hewlett-Packard-Bell by technically illiterate people confusing two companies. Now they are called this by technically savvy people comparing two companies.

HP used to be the best you could get, such as the Laserjet III and Laserjet IV printers, many of which are still in service. Too bad Mark HURD is just part of a HERD of corporate raiders who loot the holds of companies, then take the last lifeboat as the ship sinks, taking thousands of people who work for a living with it. He is no different than Carly "The Hatchet" Fiorina. If instead of her, the board had picked someone named Hewlett or Packard to run the company, they might have given a damn, and HP would still be the best, period. Now, their products are manufactured garbage, and it is too late to save the sinking ship.

I would like one with a color screen. My job requires me to travel to some really out of the way places, and my cell phone has wireless internet. Anyon know of a gadget like the one in the article with a color screen and a USB port?

  13. Public domain? What's that? on Public Domain from Outer Space · · Score: 4, Informative
I am surprised to learn that anything has gone into the public domain, as previously expired copyrights were reinstated by the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extention Act of 1998. One Example is Frank Capra's It's A Wonderful Life. This was on everywhere in the holiday season until then, but since is exclusively on NBC. Capra chose not to renew the copyright on that film, so it was his wish that it be public domain. We have all been robbed.

Here is an interesting tidbit. In its day, that film was considered communist propaganda for making a common man the hero and a banker the villian. Now, the entertainment industry would have us believe that the public domain is a communist plot, and that "intellectual property" (pure vapor) is worth more than tangible things. Well, it's not!

In the near future people might literally ask, "Public domain? What's that?" and only historians will be able to explain the concept. It will be as extinct as the Dodo Bird.
