Jobs said the super drive was very popular, and for $200 more, the screen is 17"... I just setup a Gateway for a friend, she spent $2,500 on it, (I was out of town when she bought it) and it had a 15" LCD. I think the $2,000 pricetag will work for the mac.

I'm a technology assistant at a public higschool (for volunteer hours). Comparing the reliability and ease of use of Win98 and OS9, Apple dominants both categories. Microsoft can challenge Apple, but it will fail as long as they do not do QA on the hardware. (but they would have to start making hardware first..)

Wouldn't this be good? You could really tweak the system to what you need it to do (I know, if i really wanted to i should use Linux) where i would use a bootloader for each tweaked system... Forcing MS to release APIs, file formats, network protocols would be the kiss of death for MS. Anti trust is to help me, the consumer, not kill the company.

Your problem is you have cynics who see the gnome project as just giving more control of your life to the corporations, and the protein folding project just won't interest people. Looking for ET is much more exciting, Hollywood has yet to glorify the gnome project or the protein folding project, but Independence Day glorified SETI.

"The coordinates of the target are transmitted instantly to the missile, which upon launch uses its own infrared and optic sensors to make the kill." This isn't flamebait, but wouldn't this just make our pilots more accoutable for what they fire at? With the fog of war and all, this wouldn't be good...
