You used to need the write to external storage permission to save the app to the external Smart Card. My old Hauwei Ascend ii had 128 megs of internal ram. A few updates from google and that was full, so if your app couldn't install to my 8 gig sim card then your app wasn't getting installed on my phone.
Do you have any idea where most of that money goes? Military, keeping old people alive (which, assuming you don't have the balls to start killing ppl at age 60 is a good thing) and corporate welfare.
Why don't you stop worrying about the state taking all your money and start asking why your wages have been in decline for 30 ever-lovin' years. Why don't you ask why it is your worse off than your parents? Why don't you ask why income inequality is at levels not seen since the 1920s?
Why? Because it's super easy to look at your withholding and see that. Heck, you can also lump your health insurance and any Uniform allowance into that too (most Americans do) and blame the gov't. What you can't see ( unless you go looking for it ) is where all the wealth in this country is really going. You can't see who's really robbing you blind...
it really comes down to funding. Cops have limited resources, especially after 30 years of budget cuts in the name of "Reduced Bureaucracy" and tax cuts for the rich. Remember when you voted down that 1% sales tax increase? Guess where that money was earmarked for?
So Cops ignore non-violent offenders and focus on the violent ones. Seems when it's Pot heads everyone's OK with that. Yeah, yeah, pot heads don't hurt anyone. Except there's already guys in this thread banging on about how when you investigate one crime you find another....
Want better law enforcement? Raise taxes. Corporate profits and the cash held by the top 1% are both at levels not seen since the 1920s, lets have them pay some of that.
at least not a material one. So it's not surprising people look on at the current administration doing a lot of the same things as the last one and conclude their all the same.
To be fair, I think the current Administration (e.g. Obama's) is doing the best he can. I doubt I could do any better. But given the current state of America there's no chance in hell you'll see a real left...
when you've weakened their access to food/shelter/healthcare you pretty much control them.
Maybe 100 years ago you were right, but these days the tech available to a modern army is so much better than what Joe Blow can afford it's not even a contest. To say nothing of the training a soldier gets.
Dictatorships are much more concerned with controlling who gets to eat and sleep in a warm house. If you too busy worrying about food and shelter you're not worrying about oppression...
Primaries are virtually ignored. A few dollars in the right primary at the right time could screw everything up for the Koch's of the world. They're not Gods you know? The wealthy have screwed up before, and been turned on by their own before. That's how Roosevelt got his reforms through. It happened before, and It can happen again.
sorta. Go read "A people's History of the United States". Education in America was meant to get Farm hands used to working in factories. That's why they have bells and drills. The Farm Hands kept wandering off the factory floor. They needed to be trained.
That said, a well educated populace can and will learn to think for itself. It's a by product of the education process. You can't really have one without the other, and China's starting to have problems with their middle class as a result...
and I wish people would stop deluding themselves that it does. A bunch of untrained or moderately guys with AR-15s don't stand a chance against a modern military. That's sorta why we didn't lose in Iraq.
who in America, even pre-Snowden, would ever approve the gov't opening everyone's mail and scanning it in. This didn't die because of the junk mailers, this was DOA from a fundamental standpoint.
finding the Next Generation of Teachers with more financial ad programs, better wages and an actual career path? Seriously, I know a lots of teachers and unless you're willing to drop what you're doing and hall ass to another state whenever the budget cuts come you're in for a pretty lousy time. Oh, and no, they don't take summers off. Most of them spend summers either tutoring for extra money or getting yet another degree (Masters, Doctorate) in a desperate attempt to earn a little more money:(.
Not completely anyway:). At four or five you're gonna have a hard time with ET. It's surprisingly complex, especially for an Atari 2600 game. The only things that are comparable are Raiders of the Lost Ark and Solaris (and Solaris doesn't count, it's a 16k cartridge, the larges the 2600 ever had):)
It's really not. I had it as a kid and enjoyed it. It could have used another 3 months polish (there's a rom hack floating around that does just that) and you _really_ have to read the instructions to play, but as a kid used to nothing more complex than Space Invaders I loved it. There were multiple screens (a big deal back then) and several different gameplay elements (also a big deal). I suppose it doesn't hurt that I bought it on clearance post crash, but I was so young it didn't occur to me that $5 bucks wasn't much money for a game.
A substantial amount of people get annoyed by things that don't make sense, especially in America. That's why you don't see a lot of In media res in films, and why we keep getting Spider Man/Batman/Superman's Origin story over and over and over again. As for why media caters to these folks, well, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. There are fewer people annoyed by bluntly laid out stories than get annoyed by obtuse storytelling.
In lots of places in US Internet is Metered. Even in my neck of the woods I start getting nasty letters at 300 GB down, let alone up. Most people use very little upload bandwidth, and you can be the ISPs would notice if they started bitorrenting all their Netflix traffic. This isn't going to happen.
So stop reading if you haven't read the Thrawn Books. I liked them books, but I just wish they could have come up with a better solution then just killing him at the end. It seems every time they do something interesting they cop out later on when it's time to resolve it. It's like the writers can't figure out what could possibly be a threat to a Jedi, which is silly. Blasters in sufficient quantity are threat. Bounty Hunters are a threat. Hell, Aurra Sing freakin' _hunts_ Jedi. I always thought the Star Wars MMOs missed out on a cool end game where gangs of Bounty Hunters would hunt the Jedi in PvP mode.
Third party candidates have no chance of winning because every possible candidate is vetted for suitability by the ultra rich. It's even got a name now, it's called the Sheldon Primary
We've been handing the entire country over to corporations for 40 !bleepin'! years. For God's sake, cut the man some slack. Has he compromised some principles? Yeah. But in the real world that's what you do to get things done. A General goes to war with the army he's given.
Infographics like this sorta ignore that in the US (unlike Finland) funding is not evenly distributed. By Design in the US funding for schools comes from property taxes. So the Lion's Share of that funding is going to rich kids.
That said, large sectors of our school system are being privatized for profits, so is it any wonder the numbers are going to hell? If I'm running a school and getting $2k per kid it's in my best interests to keep as much as I can. Coincidentally private schools have a much higher proportion of "Administrative" costs (too lazy to google the Study, do it yourself).
and the only way you can make a living is to live somewhere the cost of living is low enough you can survive off your meager sales? In the 3rd worlds they mostly leave you alone if you maintain your citizenship in the origin country. There's several developers that left London for Eastern Europe.

my MP3s have a warmer, more natural tone coming out of a tape deck.
Meh, it's called a Feint.
RAGE is an incredible technical feat. What I've heard is it doesn't have the GUI tools. Carmak still does everything from command line...

and there's still a lot of that. Farming, plumbing, construction, machine work, etc.

Such study. Much Science. Very Physics...
Common, we were all thinking it, right?

that's what I say. Vote for the most progressive candidate you can get your hands on, and keep doing that. It's better than nothing.
