  1. When is the Fear going to End on Open Source Enables Terrorist States · · Score: 5, Insightful

    Its time to stop cowering in the corner from the terrorist "boogey man". Every week there is a new hot button item that promotes terrorism. The general media and governement in the united states seams to want the people to be afraid of everything. Why is it that your governmet has the money to produce this very vague early wrning system but no money for health care. What exactly is a orange alert. Your leaders come on televison and say that you should be scared because somewhere, sometime, something bad is going to happen, stop living in fear and start living your lives. Get out there live your lives, enjoy them and go watch bolwing of columbine it will change they way you think.

    "Honestly, Motorola is KILLING apple. Their growth curve is way behind intel...meaning, if apple used to have the processor lead, they don't now." Is Motorola really killing apple? Do you still believe intel when they tell you that MHz = a fast computer. Why is is that supercomputers are ranked by gigaflops? This could be beacause the gigaflop is a better unit to computational speed that MHz.

    According to top500, top500 , The five most powerfull supercomputers in the world at the last update are:

    1. Earth-Simulator-> 35860.00 Gfps
    2. ASCI White, SP Power3 375 MHz-> 7226.00 Gfps
    3. AlphaServer SC ES45/1 GHz ->4463.00 Gfps
    4. AlphaServer SC ES45/1 GHz ->3980.00 Gfps
    5. SP Power3 375 MHz 16 way ->3052.00 Gfps

    Himmm interesting the second computer(ASCI White) runs at a lower MHz(375MHz) than the third and fourth comptuers(1GHz each).

    You can already block this window from poping up. If you disable ActiveX controls in your internet options the page can not force a download. M$ ActiveX is the biggest security hole ever made, it allows web sites to pretty much control what you PC does

    You could also use a non-standard web browser. Netscape does not respond to activeX in the same way as IE.

    There is only one reason microsoft eould want students to learn there source code. Windows is a virus of the mind, they will never be able to program anything half decent after viewing this code. I will have to refer to a quote about another fine microsoft product. It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to students that [sic] have had prior exposure to BASIC; as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration. -- Dijkstra
