Would Israel really be willing to accept returning Palestinians if Palestine did as well? There would be far more Palestinians, both absolutely and as a percentage, who would immigrate to Israel than Jews to Palestine. Are you, as a supporter of Israel, prepared to countenance its destruction as a Jewish state?
Also, I thought I made clear that Jewish settlers needn't, and shouldn't, be evicted, but should live as normal citzens under Palestinian rule, with no special privleges (i.e. Jewish-only access roads, confiscation of Palestinian land, destruction of Palestinian property to create security buffer zones), just as Arabs should in Israel.
While I agree with you that Israel is no better or worse than much of the Arab, or even the world for that matter, regarding racism and/or human rights, I've always been under the impression that Israel doesn't see itself as a Third World nation. While Israeli democracy and civil society are far from perfect, they are also far ahead of the rest of the Middle East in many ways. If Israel simply declared itself a theocracy, or if 'transfer' should ever come to pass, then it would be seen as no better or worse than any other Third World failure. But when Israel touts itself as the Middle East's only democracy, and when its courts reign in the excesses of the government, its failings, and hypocrisy, are starkly highlighted for all the world to see. I seem to remember something about Israel being "a light unto nations".
Finally, I would be curious to hear your views on the Wall, particularly how it is effecting the prospects of a one-state vs. two-state solution.
If you're right about those laws, then I would absolutely condemn them. However, to anticipate a commonly used argument, the fact that Jews should be allowed to own land and live in the Palestinian territories does not equate to support for settlement. Any Jews (or anyone else for that matter) who wish to live in Palestine should live under Palestinian rule (and vice-versa in Israel).
Also, I'm sure you're aware that there are similar restrictions in Israel about not selling land to non-Jews and not permitting non-Jews to move to certain municpalities.
Ultimately, I am opposed to any religious discrimination (in any direction), but it seems to me that "Jews discriminat[ing] against non-Jews" is pretty much unavoidable as a long as Israel continues to define itself as a Jewish state. That's why the only long-term solution is one state for two peoples. Ironically, the Wall (if it continues its present course) is going to finally remove any remote possibility of a two-state solution.
who finds the link to GlobalSecurity.org confusing? After all, the official title is GlobalSecurity.org. Would Slashdot link to amazon, rather than Amazon.com?
Nitpicking aside, as other posters have commented, I can't help thinking that the military that is most vunerable to this is...wait for it...THE AMERICAN MILITARY. I mean, we invest billions of dollars into developing weapons systems based around sophisticated electronics, and now there's a weapon that, for a few thousand $, can potentially destroy them. If I were a country afraid of an American invasion (i.e. just about anybody who dares to disagree with King George II), I'd definitely invest in E-bombs.
Military uses could include carrying special operation forces ashore.
I suppose the enemy might die laughing. For those who haven't read the article (who am I kidding, this is/.) the sub is painted child toy yellow, appropriately.
This review is a perfect example of the useless drivel that/. increasingly seems all too willing to publish, whether it's reviews or articles about new tech; a few paragraphs of poorly written infomercial per page, just enough to keep the ads from bumping into one another.
Are there Palestinian groups that engage in violence that could arguably be legitimate resistance and who actively oppose terrorist activity?
I must agree that I am distressed by the absence of such a group, which would demonstrate to moderate Israelis that there is "someone to talk to".
I do in fact support annexation of the territories by Israel, since I increasingly believe that the only realistic solution is a binational state. Short of annexation, I also support Israeli reoccupation of the territories, since it has already occured in fact, if not in name. For Israel to do so would not only end the corrupt and pathetic reign of the Palestinian Authority, but would force Israel to assume its responsibilities as an occupying power. Read International community supports a deluxe occupation by Meron Benvenisti.
I was merely pointing out Yassin's physical condition to emphasise the fact that Israel targets leaders who are clearly political, and cannot possibly have ever been themselves involved in violence. (reposted from above)
While it is clearly futile to argue with you, I would point out that "the greatest natural resources on Earth" are probably one of the primary causes of many of the problems that currently plague the Middle East. Disproportionate wealth from natural resources can be an important factor in allowing autocracies to exist and persist; since the government can support itself off of wealth from the ground, it doesn't have to represent or engage with its people.
For the first 3 points, see below for rebuttal, and for the last, I think the cruelty and injustice in punishing those who had nothing to do with a terrorist attack should be quite apparent.
In addition, I should point out that the suicide bomber in the most recent Haifa attack declared that her motivation was the deaths of several of her relatives at the hands of the IDF. Even ignoring the morality of punishing the relatives of terrorists, simple pragmatism should tell Israel that its policies only creates more hatred and enlarges the pool of potential attackers.

While hiding among innocent civilians may be cowardly and morally reprehensible, when the IDF strikes those terrorists while knowing that it will kill large numbers of innocent civilians, it becomes the one in the (moral)wrong.
But when you talk about Palestinian terror attacks, do you consider all attacks against Israelis to be terrorist (I agree that those that kill civilians are cowards), or do you allow that attacks against settlers and the IDF (in the Occupied Territories) are legitimate resistance against occupation?
Also, what about Israel's targeted killings, which have frequently killed many innocent Palestinian bystanders? Even if that may not be Israel's goal, isn't it wrong not to care about killing civilians in pursuit of terrorists (who are some times political leaders e.g. Sheik Ahmed Yassin, a blind cripple)? If Israel kills a terrorist, but also 15 innocents, how can that be justified?
Finally, what about house demolitions? Entire families are punished for the actions of one member, and in some cases even apartment buildings are destroyed.
they're going to do what distributed.net has already done, provide a client that can work on multiple projects, chosen by the user. Oh well, in this game I suppose it's really the size of your user base that matters.
