Same here, Akonadi broke everything, and I'm seriously considering dropping KDE off the back of that, on my FreeBSD box anyway.

It's not a botched config update either cos I've wiped everything (I think - docs are minimal and it seems to scatter it's config fairly liberally) and started again. It still loses the MySQL connection every 30 seconds and has to be restarted. I presume it's picky about some library version or other or maybe it just doesn't like FreeBSD. TBH I've spent too much time on it already - I wish the KDE devs would learn to test properly.

These are awful business models. Their content is all available for free on Bitorrent. They can't possible expect people to pay for content they can get for free.

So they're all a dismal failure, right? Well no. They're actually doing pretty well. There is a simple way to reduce piracy, make the content available at a good price on demand so that it's just as wasy to get it legally. Most people don't actually mind paying for content, they just don't want to drive to the store to buy a disc to watch a film.

As per TFA, we've had this in the UK for years. As the US networks say, it's not perfect as the IMEI can be changed on some phones and they can be exported abroad but its a hell of a lot better than nothing. Most mobile phone robberies are not organised exporters, they're people after a quick profit, often to feed a drug habit.

It's common sense, it works, do it.

IMHO If a criminal act has taken place that warrants a punishment that's for the criminal courts to decide and as a punishment, any fine should not go to the victim.

The web-app compatibility issue is no biggie - just make sure you have a decent rollback strategy in place if something important stops working.
