Yup. Getting caught would feature high on that list.

True. I graduated University in 2001, and temped for food/rent until earlier this year. One of my jobs was working HR. For any single position advertised, an employment agency would submit (seemingly) the resume of everyone registered with them. Having filtered out all that crap kind of desensitises you to filtering the resume of the unfortunate new graduates.

    Incidentally, substitute "shred" for "filter".

There are too many stupid people on earth.

We need to make things harder to use, and eventually as a result the stupid portion of the world population will be culled out of the gene pool.

Of course, for this to work we'll need to graft lethal devices onto simple household appliances, but i'm sure there are enough bitter sociopathic techies out there to make this a nightmarish reality.

  11. Nothing new here on L.A. Times on Game Reviewer 'Playola' · · Score: 1

This has always gone on to some degree; perhaps not with free trips and all, but certainly games companies have a certain amount of power over magazines. Companies have always quite easily exerted pressure on magazines by giving them "exclusive" previews, etc. These days it's taken for granted that they'll just send out umpteen review copies of their game to all the major magazines, but back in the eighties this wasn't always the case. I think with the market shift in this direction can only be a good thing though - after all, I'd sooner all those poor reviewers (who really don't have a glamorous existence, despite what you'd tend to think) got a whole bunch of free stuff, than game companies sticking it to magazines for giving a bad review to their buggy/rubbish product.
