I am in robotics and I know of a company called irobot.
I just believed it was their new product. It was a surprise for me because I do keep track of advances in robotics, and had never heard of this product. But the company irobot has smart people, so I was willing to believe it.
Templates programming is great if you want to avoid dynamic memory allocations, as for example in real-time applications where dynamic memory allocations cause non-deterministic performance.
At clemson university robotics group, we created a generic robot control platform based on exactly such advanced C++ concepts. Take a look: Robotic Platform]
These are the artists I got hooked on to (and bought their CDs) after listening to them on netradio.com. Too bad they had to close down due to fear of litigation.

'yum update kernel' will install kernel-2.6.6-1.435 that fixes this problem
