  1. Do what I did... on Career Day for Elementary School Kids? · · Score: 2, Funny

I went in and announced to the class that I'm a gigilo. The teacher looked shocked, and after class she asked me "Why'd you say that?"

I replied "How do you expect me to be able to explain what a UNIX administrator does to kindergartners???"

I know, I know... It's an old (and bad) joke.

And besides, what is the point? If you are talking to someone on one of these things, you both obviously have a cell phone that is getting service, why not just call? Will the extra few seconds of ring time and saying "Hello?" really take that much longer?

There's no secret about what your vote is doing, and no confusion about whether the vote was cast or not, or if anyone is turning in multiple ballots.

  14. Buy a good one. on DVD Players - Buy Now or Wait for the Violet Laser Models? · · Score: 2, Informative

When DVD players were first coming out, I won one on the radio that retailed for $800. Almost 5 years later, that model is still selling used for almost $200. The picture quality on it is awesome, and it still works perfect.

Now, compare that one to some of the cheap new ones that some of my friends bought at Wal mart for around $100, and there is a very definite quality difference in the picture and sound. On my player, there is only pixelation if the disc is very dirty. The cheap new ones pixelate if you so much as look at them wrong.

The bottom line is, if you are really that bothered by pixelation, fork up some cash and buy a nice one, not an Apex or one like it.

I'm usually against more government regulations, but I think that this is something they don't take seriously enough. I'm constantly seeing cars on the freeway that are about to fall apart, and clueless drivers swerving around the freeway. Driving is a priveledge, not a right.
