See, I think I had at least one valid point somewhere in my inanity, and someone decided to cling to the fact that I mentioned I'm a Scientologist so they can make an idiotic comment.

There's lots more to Scientology than Xemu (or did you even know the name?) and aliens... and now I am as off-topic as you are.

    Oh well.

I'd go into a little more detail, but I sense you'd prefer to stick with that one small synapse that still manages to fire in your crumbling thought-process so you can at least spout off something that might make your drunken buddies giggle at you.

Maybe, but I'd still have PC's in addition to the Mac; there would still be pleanty of fuel for the evangelical fires.

"Oh, I hate the piece of shit, I just use it for [game/application/whatever], which is only for PC. *frothfrothfoamspeakintongues*"

I've known a few (and, for a while, was a member of the) pulpit-pounding Macheads. As long as you say you like the Mac better, they'll leave you alone. ;)

On another note, I've known quite a few PC users who'll bait me, knowing full well I'm a Mac guy, and then be all "Well you don't have to be a JERK about it" when I start getting pissed off at their blatant untruths. Quite annoying. I saved a log of an online conversation, actually, if anyone's interested.
I only bring it up to point out that, while some Mac evangelists might be a bit overzealous, most would probably be a lot better if they weren't baited. (Not that I'm saying you do/did this, mind. Others do, though.)

Heh. Just so you know, seeing some of the other posts in this thread, I'm also a Scientologist. DOUBLE ZEALOT RAPAGE ACTION. Same deal there: I might get pissed, but only when baited. Or when people just randomly decide to insult Scientology (much of which I disagree with, btw) without having any idea what they're talking about.

Actually, it was really fun when Battlefield Earth came out... I'd be with a group of friends talking about how much it sucked, most of whom didn't know of my religion, and someone would say, "Hah, well, what do you except from a cult?" at which point I'd grin wickedly at them until they figured it out.

    Whoops, I rambled.

Chimera (0.2.7) is exceeindgly speedy on my G3/500 mhz iMac. It's as fast as IE in most things and far faster for some things. For instance, Chimera loads Slashdot stories with a lot of comments (yay for -1, nested!) a million times faster than IE, which just grinds and grinds.
It has its problems, sure, and I wish it could download, but overall I've never found a browser I liked more.

As a side note, it seems that browser speed varies hugely from computer to computer. A lot of people have gone on about the speediness of, say, OmniWeb, but it was really slow for me. Same with Mozilla. Maybe the page-rendering was quick in both, but I was too busy waiting for them to finally process the fact that I'd pressed to 'back' button to notice. =P

I've yet to see a TV with more than one set of component in jacks.

Heh. I've got an XBox, a Gamecube and a PS2. The X-Box is currently sitting on by bed (and will remain there until I get Morrowind). It's broken: the first two controller ports are screwed. This is my second one I've had. The first one just broke down, and I got a big screen that said 'WARNING WARNING WARNING' (I swear, it actually said it three times in a bright red 48-point font) and then gave instructions in 4 different languages to call some Microsoft support number. The XBox's BSOD.
    Anyway, that wasn't my point.

You can easily and cheaply have multiple consoles on a TV with just three AV ports. Go to your local Radio Shack and pick up some AV splitters. The ones with 2 female jacks and 1 male jack. Then you can plug your PS2 and Gamecube video into the females and slam the male into the back of your TV. Don't turn both on at once, though. It doesn't hurt anything, but it sure looks funky.

Even better, you can have a CD playing headlessly (just unplug the video from the splitter) on one system and play a game on the other. Used to play THPS3 on the PS2 and have Cake playing on the Dreamcast. Quite fun.

Well, supporting older software/hardware is generally good up to a point. Does Microsoft still release patches for Windows 98? I'm pretty sure they do.

Also, I would be greatly upset if they stopped releasing patches for IE 5.x as well as 6, because the classic Mac version of IE is only up to 5.5 last I checked, and the OS X version is 5.1.4. Although I somehow doubt the Mac version has all the security holes...

Then they should use the Mozilla technology to integrate a web browser into the Finder.

Ugh. I'm reminded of some article I read on The Register, I think. (I don't have a URL for it, sorry. If someone jumps on me about it I guess I could find it.) It was about Windows Media Player for XP and the fact that whenever you stuck in a new DVD it would query Microsoft about it to get the name of it, etc., but also bring back a cookie with a unique identifier for that copy of WMP. Microsoft responded to an email someone concerned about this sent them. They said to turn this feature off, you should go into IE and tell it to block all cookies.

Now, without even mentioning the fact that that is the most idiotic way to turn off a feature I've ever heard of, it shows what integration can do. If I ever have to go into into Mozilla and turn off something useful so iTunes doesn't cause my modem to dial into the 'net whenever I stick a CD in I'm going to investigate RISC.

The Finder is the Finder. Please, just leave well enough alone.
