    The whole point is that the wavelenght is smaller (normally people say shorter), as that allows more precise, and so more dense, burning.

    It's not a new interface. All the buttons are still in the same place, just the images are different. I don't mind the interface's images changing with a new release - it makes things seem fresh.

    They're not just stupid, they were choosing to take part in illegal laundering of money. The fact that were crossed doesn't stop them being criminals. I would prosecute every one.

    I guess it's a bit like a word then. As the word is dependant on the processor architecture, the byte is dependant on the data being worked with.

    Why is C the authority on what a byte it? Bytes were around a long time before C.

    You're confusing "byte" and "char". "char" is related to character sets, "byte" has nothing to do with them. Just because you're using 16 bit unicode does not change the size of the byte, it simply means that your "char" is two "bytes" (if your bytes are 8 bits). Why would a unicode system half the resolution of memory just because of the character set used? You could have a byte of 8 bits, a character of two bytes, or a byte of 128 bits and a character of 256 bits. No connection between the two.

    I think someone (with more spare time than I) should make a Linux distribution sans GNU. They could take everything needed from BSD, and we could have a _Linux_, and just _Linux_ distribution to shove under Stallman's nose.

    Stallman has an ego problem. GNU is NOT an essential part of the Linux operating system. All GNU components could be replaced with BSD, or even propeitary versions, and it would still be Linux. How does he know that everyone using the Linux kernel is using the GNU tools?
