    I am an admited Opera fan boy. I payed for the browser, not to get rid of the ad (which only said "buy opera today"), but to support development. I have used moz and firebird and theyre certainly better than IE, but i just dont like the "feel" as much. I dont know how to explain it exactly, and it is possible to get moz or firebird exactly the same use and featurewise as opera with enough extensions (about 8) and reconfiguring all the mouse gestures to the same as opera. But i still like opera too much to switch to an OS alternative just for the sake of it being OS. My only complaint with opera is that the stumble toolbar isn't avalible for it.

    SMS could be useful during a performence, and just having the crew on speed dial would be easy enough, the only problem i can see would be adressing all the techs at once.

    For some things, the fastrack network is still ok, but since Kazaa Lite killed themselves when they decicded to try to start charging, a new client is a good thing. The original Morpheus was the first p2p ap i used, and it was great back then. I'm kind of dissapointed now, because originally it was touted as a spy/adware free version or Kazaa. Just my thoughts, i think i'll stick with the last version of K++.

    Do we really mind if the space program gets shifted to the military? Think about it, its going to happen anyway, so why not consider the positives. At the moment NASAs budget is what, 5%, 1%? of our military budget. More money for space is a good thing. And remember, our favorite fictional space organization, starfleet, is a military organization.

    Yeah, i have friends who use me instead of google. They'll IM me for help with something theyre working on or for a random fact, and if i dont know it off the top of my head i'll consult google. But i have broadband, so its faster for them than just using google anyway.

    They still carry components, but theyre tucked away in the back, and yes they are relativly expensive, but they're convinient. If i know i need components and know what i need and am not in a rush, then yeah i'll order from mcm or mouser and even with shipping save a few bucks over rs, but if i just need a switch or something i'll run over to radioshack for it.

    Archos has various accessoris that let you transfer files from a CF card to one of their very portable hard drives that also play mp3s and mpeg4 video.

    A few months ago i had my senior pictures taken by this little old guy with a terrible tupee, but while he was setting up his equiptment he was telling me about how after high school(he graduated from the same school as me) he joined the navy as an ariel photographer for the pacific campaign. I guess he flew missions for mapping iwo jima and a few other of the key islands. It was interesting to hear about to say the least, to bad this is /.d, but form the other posts i assume its all european photos.

    I had this discussion the other day with some friends, none of us are audiophiles, but we all have decent setups. I have 4ch surround for my entertainment center and 4.1 for my sterio in my bedroom, but we all understand that the 5th is a front center, and we all assume, but none of us know that 6.1 has a rear center chanel. But none of us could figure out the arrangment of 7.1 surround. Is there an overhead speaker or no front center speaker and 4 evenly spaced in front. Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Aside from region coding and encryption, which aren't really issues anymore, the industry got DVDs right. People will pay a reasonable price for high quality and special features as opposed to downloading or taping it.

    As long as your cpu's not under much load this cools pretty well without a fan, and even if the fan's on, a large fan @ fewer rpms will move as much air with less noise than a smaller one running faster.

    I have downloaded music, copyright infringment, i know, but i also have over 400 cds, most of which i've bought since i started downloading, so i dont feel guilty about that at all. I also have several hundred gigs of tv shows i've downloaded. Not sure about this, they are copyrighted, but noone raised a stink about that yet, and it not like its something that has to be payed for in the first place. And anyway i buy what i download on dvd when avalible, farscape, firefly, stargate, simpsons, family guy, south park, futurama etc.
