The problem is that the DCSD didn't bother to inform anyone which facts and studies were flawed. It's a bit difficult to refute their argument if they don't provide their evidence. We know what Lomborg has argued, it's all there in the book and supporting documentation...
The Committee had called for Dr. Lomborg's dismissal from the Danish government agency that examines environmental regulations.
That teaches him for questioning orthodoxy.
Lomborg's book has 2 930 footnotes which allows you to fact check every single assertion that he makes. I've never seen that level of detail from the environmentalist movement and I speak as someone who has read more than just their pamphlets.
It should be noted that the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation published its own response to the Danish Committees on Scientific Dishonesty:
"[T]he DCSD has not documented where [Dr Lomborg] has allegedly been biased in his choice of data and in his argumentation, and...the ruling is completely void of argumentation for why the DCSD find that the complainants are right in their criticisms of [his] working methods. It is not sufficient that the criticisms of a researcher's working methods exist; the DCSD must consider the criticisms and take a position on whether or not the criticisms are justified, and why."
Oh, you mean the DCSD has done what they are accusing of Lomborg on? Right then...carry on!
Personally, I'm interested in politics, so I found Dude, Where's My Country? to be a very interesting work. Moore improves on Stupid White Men a lot by incorporating many more references to works cited, and elaborating his position better. For that matter, one of my textbooks made interesting reading: Gov't and Business.
I actually reviewed this for a newspaper so I had to be reasonably polite in my criticisms of DWMC? but I have to say it was the second most sophmoric book I've ever had the misfortune to read. There were so many distortions and outright lies -- heaped on silliness like "selected, not elected!" (seriously, it's time to give that one up...no one cares even if you were right) -- that I argued it should have been classified as fiction.
Yeah, Coulter isn't much better but as a conservative I'm happy that the left considers Moore to be an intellectual hero...makes my job discrediting liberalism all that much easier. Bowling for Columbine? The NRA board of directors must have been laughing after watching it in anticipation of all the new memberships.

Alberto Santos-Dumont was an exceptional man but he simply did not fly an airplane before the Wright brothers. They flew in 1903 while Santos-Dumont -- according to his own notes -- took his first flight in 1906.
The only reason for the confusion was the secrecy that the Wright brothers insisted on surrounding themselves with. Even the French government, which was completely behind Santos-Dumont, acknowledges the Wright brothers as being first.
I'm a professional book reviewer myself and I'd never start a review like that but in this case I have to admit that it kept me reading it. It certainly was different:-)
I talked to Chuck by email a couple of months ago, he's working on bringing it back. He's been delayed because the original run's main executive producer, Todd Stevens (who produces 'Friends'), is busy over at NBC...
So Apple invented selling over the Internet? Wow...and here I thought it was merely a refinement of previous efforts. That reality distortion field even effects Time Magazine.
Christ, with people like you I can justify any action short of buying an ad delivery vehicle masquerading as a search engine.
Shoot women and children in the back of the head and bury them in a deep hole? Evil. Buy Google? Beyond evil. I can imagine you being herded into the gas chamber shouting, "At least they don't control the Internet!"
I can not imagine anything more evil that microsoft + google. Microsoft would be unstoppable.
You are so right! With those together Dacheau would re-open, Saddam's rape gangs would be back in operation and Vlad Tepes would return to impale thousands of more prisoners. I can only imagine the forces of Microsoft arrayed against twelve thousand from each of the 12 Tribes of Israel at Meddigio.
A brutal communist tyranny that forces business to use the product that the government has determined is the best! And everyone on Slashdot thinks it's great!
You people would cheer if al-Qaida announced it was going open source.
Even if these numbers are too large, this still makes you think about how inefficient our cars are. Let me rephrase part of this thread's introduction:
"Users of solar energy require an energy source roughly 333 000 times the mass of the Earth simply to operate -- and most SE powered devices are incredibly inefficient."
Cars have nothing to do with how much prehistoric plant matter is necessary to create a gallon of gas -- especially since petroleum was around long before humanity was.
Does it fix the "issue" where iTunes dictatorally modifies the entire directory structure to impose its own idea of how my music files should be stored? No? Until then, iTunes stays off my PC.
It will take me days if not longer to get my files back to how they were before iTunes was installed.
In Canada it is legal [techcentralstation.com] to upload copyrighted songs!
I don't give a flying fsck what TCS says, uploading copyright material in Canada is not legal. Listen to these people at your own risk but use this defense in court and be prepared to pay damages plus legal costs for being so stupid.
I have a Thinkpad 760EL, released in 1996, and that thing refuses to die. Works as good now as it ever did...so easy to swap stuff out of it as well.
That I certainly won't argue.
uhm, I thought iTunes exists to sell iPods. I mean that's what Jobs has said in the past.
So...what was so hard to understand? Smaller market share for iTunes....fewer iPods sold, if you accept Jobs' statement for what he meant it to.
You don't have to be pretty sure. Apple actually had about 50 per cent share of the desktop market before IBM rolled out their PC.
On Mars, craters crashland you!
I think you meant: Parlez vous Anglais?

Don't forgot Chuck Cirino's "Wierd TV"!

Why MTV though? The closest they come to being about music is the first letter in their acronym.

As for Windows, they stole that from Apple who stole their ideas from Zerox :-) Oh wait, only Microsoft steals ideas...

Thank God Google managed to change world history!
Any word on the script? I always thought some of the old A v P comic series could have been turned into interesting movies.

It's Apple's fault that it reorganized an entire partition on my hard drive without any advance notice.
Too little, too late.

What, we like Walter Mossberg this week because he gave the thumbs up to iTunes?
