  1. Bad news for whomever is doing the blocking on Vonage Says VoIP Traffic Blocked By Providers · · Score: 3, Insightful

    The argument that LECs and ISPs have been using to avoid liability for filesharing is that they are not content providers and have no responsibility to filter or otherwise regulate the content that is delivered over their links. However, once they start filtering VoIP, then they are implying that they are indeed making an effort to regulate content, and therefore are opening themselves up to more legal nightmares.

    Outsourcing was well underway long before Bush took office. The company I was working for in 1999 was already outsourcing software to Romania and hardware to India. Before that, the large multinational my dad was working for outsourced an entire product development project to Bangalore in 1993. The only thing that has brought outsourcing to the forefront is Clinton's insane recession during which many jobs were outsourced to reduce costs so that companies wouldn't go out of business, and could therefore still exist today to employ American workers. Had Clinton and his appointees at the SEC and Justice hadn't turned a blind eye to all of the corruption that was going on at the likes of Enron and MCI, the bubble would not have happened and outsourcing would not have picked up pace like it did.

    Citizens of Philadelphia, listen to me and listen to me good. It will be cheaper for you in the long run to OPPOSE this with every ounce of strength you have and instead just go out and buy a computer and cheap DSL or Cable. If you allow the city gov't to do this, all you'll accomplish is paying the same thing for the computer and service, plus an additional premium for the privelege of having Mayor Street's cronies build and maintain the network for you. DSL you buy from Verizon comes with support, as does cable service. You do not need a corrupt city government doing it for you.

    Under this higher, real world pressure situation, the HWM group's score dropped to that of the LWM group, which was not affected by the increased pressure.

    == snip ==

    The problem here is putting the HWM group into a team environment. My hypothesis is that this group was poisoned by at least one MBA-type student who propagated the atmosphere of "gotta make the cash," while at the same time spawning the existence of endless meetings, mission statements, and other pointless endeavors designed at taking away task focus. The work was probably then outsourced to India so it could actually be done while the students in the group participated in a Six-Sigma study of why they couldn't get any work done. Since the work was done in India by the lowest common denominator, the equality of score between the HWM group and the LWM group is explained.
