I read on a mac message boards that 'proper' ATI and NVidia cards are the ones to check out for PC+Apple Display setups because the Apple and Wintel cards share big chunks of bios and are therefore likely to be cool with the slightly wacky resolutions.
They also said to check the respective vendors websites for actual details, which I certainly recomend:)
I remember a tech demo for the pretty much failed Nuon (a chipset which was installed OEM into standard DVD players to let them play games)which was games of Doom rendered onto the surfaces of spinning cubes...
Another point to suggest Doom is an inspiration to lots of games designers...
My phone recently failed and had to go for repair. When checking the (additional paid for) warrenty I noted it was *not* covered for any damages caused by computer viruses...
A clause to protect themselves ('The Link' UK) for the future?
N64 Turok 2 is a commercial game with a sketchy mode, and the current industry trend of cel-shading is sketchy to say the least (and that is a tech which makes nasty low-poly character models look all yummy, though admittedly after a big bunch of processing).
Finally, for in my opinion the nicest animated music video ever, check the one by the Beastie Boys with a name I can't remember:) And then the whole Daft Punk Discovery album video set.
I read with Minority Report a big bunch of the budget (around the salary of Mr. Cruise, or the whole budget minus Cruise, either way lots of moolar:) ) was paid by Nokia and Co.
However things are complicated when adverts for the products come out full of material from the film (which over here in the UK is happening) - at that point I guess they might start becomming even..
"It's hidden away inside your computer where no one will ever see it and its timedemo scores will be outclassed in less than 7 months time."
Yeah, its nothing to do with appendages, just replace 'computer' with 'office', and 'timedemo' with, well pretty much anything, and it turns out it actually represents you completely:)
I've been looking for a audio recording device and on the verge of going back to minidisc.
However, I, out of sheer idleness, would like to keep the process as digital as possible, hence the search for a digital recorder that would upload via USB (recording iPod would be ideal, Archos' box didn't really do it for me)...
If this device could use a USB Audio-In device (say, iMic) then share the music via the wireless network at the office it would be a new breed of big and clever.
Anyone with a better grasp on the Z and Linux audio help?
In the UK at least (guessin it is definately global) there is an Imax native flick called 'Cyberworld 3D' (flashy link)which actually features bits from the Simpsons and specially rendered stuff using A Bugs Life and Antz characters (and in Antz case scenes) and it does look very watchable, but I guess it wouldn't be worth the investment for Pixar and Co. to (re)generate a whole movie for the money they could make from the project...
Woah. Being English I have never heard of this company before but I do kind of have problems with it.
My general stance is the whole situation is kinda messed up. It is just SO subjective as soon as you start cutting stuff out you might never be able to stop.
From a brief trip to the site my favourite example is from their jive about Aliens (Special Edition) (in plain or special one of my favouritist films ever).
"Personally supervised by director James Cameron, this special edition includes scenes eliminated prior to the film's 1986 release which broaden the narrative scope and enrich the emotional impact of the film."
However, they also cut a bunch of stuff out themselves, which presumably vectors the film back to its original emotional impact state or something:)
This link tells us the data storage of a minidisc (data mode) is 140MB...
Whilst this link tells us the state of play regarding the use of MD data years ago, and I don't really think it improved from here much (other than four-track audio recorder systems which used MD data but for audio purposes)...
The big monster vaio notebooks (and the highest end desktops) in the UK are starting to come with internal MD drives but as far as I am aware they only work with the slightly dodgy Sony music downloading software (no non-audio data)...
However, most Sony computer gear also comes with Memory Stick slots, which is becomming my favourite (small) removable format - mini, but not stupidly so...
I wouldn't really want to read too much Kanji, let alone English, on it's display, and there are standard potential OS quarms, but it does have a certain coolness, and it is actually available.
Although I'm quite content reading about it on my iBook, which is about as small a computer as my hands can get down with...
Like I said in my previous post, and this could be totally unfounded:), but I *think* iTunes and Toast sort of 'share' driver resources, this recorder update meant my burner now works with both programs.
Now, the problem is, if that isn't so and it screws something up I don't have a clue how to remove it:) Back in the 9 days it would be a simple hunt-the-extension game but that stuff has just got a wee bit harder:)
Now, instead of pulling a freeze then a dirty great kernel panic, iTunes recognizes my Lacie USB CD-RW (weirdly, after turning it on, then off then back on again:/ ).
The cool thing is the update works transparently with Titanium, where as with OS 9 the two sets of drivers would often screw around with each other.
These two points together with lots of other little things (uummmm, flurry...)make me steadily more comfortable with the whole X thang.
peace.
I really, really dug the old iTools regime (site hosting was always solid and the email service equally strong).
But now, with slight upgrades offered we are now made to pay.. This brings up the question of the value offered by the service (for the $49 / $100)..
I guess people out there already know infinately more already then I could gather from research, so how does their service compare to the others out there?
Going from FCP 2 -> FCP 3 not only bought around OS X compatibility, but a bunch of really useful features (colour correction stuff, G4 real-time stuff, offline RT, potential film editing plug-ins), and (at current prices) offered that at a quarter of the price of the original software (250/830).
Meanwhile, I appreciate it must of been a lot of work porting the software, but Office upgrades to the X version offer a much smaller feature upgrade for roughly 1/2 the price again (230/430).
I guess pricing software is always tricky but most people I know aren't prepared to pay (proportionally) that much for what isn't a massive enhancement for them...

Its probably not relevant to most of the /. crowd but you really don't want to slip and go to hotmale.com :)
:)
And as for itsrainingmen.com, it sure ain't about the disco classic etc

Or another example of the usefulness of Apple's Hardware/software control/unity...

Its been said before, and it shall be said again, Sony's Really Small Notebook(TM) does kind of rock.

Neither do a big bunch of humans :)
Before there was a semi-mathemtical equation dictating the link between monthly bandwidth limitations and what you paid for additional web space...
Does anyone know how the new prcing structure will change this?

Apple are still selling the 'iMac', which has changed somewhat over its lifespan so far
Anyway, I thought the drive has already changed (103 -> 104 or something small like that, bringing about better CD-R performance or something
