    That could well be a valid, +1 point :), but I always felt anyone who complains about a frequent physical task being tough basically isn't doing it properly, and will/should improve over time... There are of course a bunch of acceptions but do something -> get better at it, should apply to most things right?

    Everytime a new phone or PDA comes out which incorporates multiple features, at least someone says they want a seperate device which does each thing properly, but they never really want to carry them all around all the time..

    With this sort of solution, its not an issue to incorporate the tech you need that day and, hopefully, they are each quality components...

    There is a huge difference in carrying a 3lb v. a 7lb laptop.

    Yeah, a good bag. I might be a healthy, young student, but I don't flinch at the idea of carrying a couple of stone, which is, what, 13Kg?

    The idea of being able to even feel a four pound change with a decent bag is kind of alien to me :/

    Also (and I haven't used XP througherly so I can't make a direct comparison) the 'dynamic', updatable icons in the Dock are really starting to become a useful feature...

    Granted, I started using them to play itty-bitty quicktime movies, but nowadays it updates me on the process of my FTP uploads and video encodes constantly, instead of having to flick between windows or have them open all the time, actually saving space and time people (probably including me) originally thought the dock wasted...

    There is normally differences in RAM between Arcade and Home hardware, but there have been at least parallels for ages - grandparent points out the main contemporary ones, parent misses out recent Naomi and spinoffs, which was the arcade Dreamcast hardware, there are more going back in time and of course the Daddy - Neo Geo.

    I've never bitched about modding before but great grandparent really isn't insightful stuff :/

    In the UK at least any additional funding which comes from the Government usually has rules and detinations attached to it (which kinda negates the use of headteachers but anyway)...

    In my school, whilst I was still being taught Geo in a leaky, creaky hut the main building was being ripped apart to install a fibre network (despite the fact the nodes were mostly old 486s).

    Despite it not making sense, you'll find people 'higher up' the chain, who actually know less, dictate the path for this kind of additional funding which means it often goes on politically, instead of educationally, motivated schemes :/

    I kind of thought the

    mass robot grave ~= our own historical holocaust(s)

    imagery wins the distrubing award through sheer mass of death, but I guess some like the personal touch :)

    I'm excited about the next two whole films, but I'm pretty sure about much of the plot of the two films, and thats whats so cool about these shorts - you really don't know, or at best can come up with a bunch of possible solutions regarding, whats coming up next, which is why I'm already looking forward to this time next month :)

    Before Compression (.sit) - 87.9MB
    After Compression (.mov) - 93.4MB
    Time to decompress (iBook 500/66Mhz) - Minutes (though this is an increasing old school computer)...

    I can understand why, after times one billion downloads, that saving is cool, and I'm sure the guys who manage that server know what they are doing :) It is also a really nice exmple of presentation quality quicktime compression...

    When you go to the 'Download File' link it offers the same .mov file but in .sit and .zip formats for mac and windows users respectively.

    My question is, why offer what is already a seriously compressed file within another set of, practically useless, compression? I'd guess the time reduced downloading is less than the time it takes to decompress the file (though that is at the user end...). Is there a benefit for the server I'm not geeky enough to know?

    Speaking as a mac user I would disagree with that. The interation with the system software is sweet, and going online via GPRS *without taking the phone out of one's pocket/bag* is seriously sweet, especially if you've ever tried to get a phone and notebook talking via IR...

    4) Not a rugid phone. Anytime it has ever been dropped, I'm worried I'm out of luck!

    Thats why syncing all the important information contained with your mac/comp so easily via bluetooth is so sweet :)

    Perhaps to differenciate it from the P800, which features Memory Stick Duo slot?

    I'd say the single/album system currently manipulates things in reverse to the way you invisage - bands making consessions that the record companies demand for their 'single' tracks.

    In the future, the concept of 'album' might fall apart and songs be released in streams where they are a geniune flow of creative consciousness...

    That probably won't happen :) but still...

    Software 0 and 1 I'm afraid on an Xserve without it's big storagey brother.

    Check out 'Disk Utility' in your Mac OS X utilities folder to see how to format software raid.

    At The Apple Store when you buy an XServe (which comes with an unlimited user lincense for OS X) you can buy a $999 "Mac OS X Server Maintenance Program" which sounds like it would of solved your problem to some degree...

    "Mac OS X Server Maintenance is a 3 Year, non-cancelable agreement during which you will receive every major upgrade release to Mac OS X Server."

    Typing this on an iBook, which is as happy in (quite literally) the field, to a crowded media editing room to my kitchen, I think I know what he is getting at...

    They were getting pretty genocidal with the mass robot graves, but I guess 'struck' means 'nuke the sky' kind of level, bought on afterward by the continued decline in the human economy?

    There aren't that many wars in our history which have only one true flashpoint - most of them have at least a generation worth of build up...

    What do they actually *know* in this short? One name (b166er) and a rough geographic location (of the first robot city).

    I'd say it is as accurate as contemporary news/historical records, and I'm sure everyone can draw their own comparisons :)

    This is followed by the robots feeling they lack respect from humans and aren't treated equally - they form a breakaway society and still try to interact with humans who don't want it.

    If anything I thought you were just meant to replace the robots with your favourite repressed minority group and nod at how sucky ignorent majority groups are, as opposed to the robots being wrong...

    But that might just be the rablings of a paranoid white guy :)

    It's less "different people's views on it" and more a bunch of mini prequels - doing things and telling stories which they couldn't with live action.

    I for one am impressed with the way they have handled it and the outcome...

    It is, but when you need to put multiple files (such as the documentation you mentioned) into different directories an installer is easier and more appropriate.

    Bingo. Whilst I'm sure the mentioned Software Update install route is smooth, I downloaded it with Safari which also helped me as much as it could (decoding file and opening installer), which I do think is a nice feature...

    Well, the app size in Finder is 46MB, then in /Library/iMovie/Documentation there is 60MB of manuals and lessons in PDFs in a number of different languages (no sample .DV stuff inflating the download).

    If they wanted to they could offer smaller, country specific versions (which they might already do)...

    Also, it wasn't in a .DMG format.. I thought that was the new OS X way of doing things..
