    Or download spybot search & destroy - its really quite good at getting rid of GAIN and other nasty crap

    As an MIS major, I can first hand say that about 80% of the people I went to school with would be completely out of place in a programming environment. Most of them just saw the allure of becoming a 'computer consultant' - and go figure, a number of them were put out of work or forced to change jobs/fields in the past 2 years.

    On the other side of things, there are MIS people who like working with computers, just not so much programming. I fit in that area, I love networking, unix, some SQL, perl, etc and I'm happy. I figured I knew I didnt want to become a programmer, so why sit through 4 years of comp sci classes

    my all time favorite was one I saw in around 1996-97 in the local paper where I lived saying they wanted an programmer with at least 10 years of experience working with Java.

    they dont tell you exactly how much time has passed, and based on the 2002/2003 model Escalades the twin bad guys drive (can tell by the headlight setup), I think its safe to say more time has passed than most people realize

    but movies want realism - having a power grid on a closed private network would make lots of sense. Get to utilize lots of new technology for management and dont have to worry about an attack from outside. I would wager a large power company like that wouldnt even have it connected to the internet anywhere since that would be too big a security risk.

    Unlikely that will happen. For example: Time Warner/AOL looks like it is struggling, look at their books, and notice that just about every single division of Time Warner is profitable, while AOL's performace has been horrid. Dump AOL, and they are in suprisingly good financial shape

    but if I recall from my history class, their has been at least 1 instance of presidents who won while recieving less of the popular vote (ironically, Florida was controversal then too - look up the 1876 election and you'll see) - its actually easy to do in theory, win the big states (population wise) in a close race, and get blown out in the smaller populated states

    Remember, armed guards stood over them as they voted.

    They didn't even need the armed guards there, they system of voting they used actually had their equivelant of ssn on their ballots (each person is assigned their own ballow), plus they mark the box using fingerprints so it can be checked to make sure the person actually voted they way it was on the vote card

    you should know the recycling paper is more damaging to the environment that cutting down trees. It has been for years. Tree regrowth plans have been in place since the late 70's for most major paper manufacturers and the byproducts from recycling paper is worse than letting paper biodegrade naturally

    I've seen postings for 2 of the 4 people where they were saying 'donate money to help pay settlement with the RIAA' - but what about the other 2 people? I mean, Aaron Sherman got shafted with the largest settlement of the 4 ($17500) - why not setup sometime to dontate money to him?

    Why? He probably has a car that costs more than that. He's going to an outrageously expensive school. He'll probably see a 6-figure income the instant he gets out. Is he really poor enough to need our assistance?

    Just because someone goes to an expensive school does not mean they have lots of money - people do get things called financial aid for a reason. I went to RPI, and I use as hell didnt have lots of money. As for the 100k salary coming out of there, I wish that were true for all RPI grads, but sadly, its not

    I've had Ulead DVD Movie Factory mess up the sound on me many times (out of sync sound) - so I'd be careful if I decided to use it for large amounts of conversion like this guy with his 650 tapes - I know I wouldnt want to have to redo any of them if I had that many to convert

    you could've just said 'this is how to broil steak' - they actually make broiled steak seasonings too so that the season doesnt burn (like pepper). And on a side note - if you want really good steak, you goto a real butcher, not a grocery store

    blank dvds are much more resistant to scratches than CDs

    someone needs to tell that to my DVD player - touch the bottom and leave a small fingerprint, and large chunks of the movie I want to watch become a garbled mess

    you are of course assuming that 100% of those DVDs burn correctly - but if they burn data anything like how they do movies - expect a good number of those to be bad (most burners on vcdhelp.com's message boards are lucky if 8/10 are good) - and blank dvds are far less likely to be read if they get a small scratch
