What they could do to improve the overall thing instead is to make it compatible with opera(most of the service works since opera 9.5alpha, but not all features). And they could also stop sending me invitations to their beta program that they actually don't offer in my area, as they explicitely tell me once i've made the move to update. I get this invitation everytime i sign in.
Of course, there's also gmail, hehe so long yahoo!
Yes, i was thinking the same while reading that disconcerting study by the UN: http://www.unep.org/geo/geo4/report/GEO-4_Report_Full_en.pdf
[http://www.unep.org/geo/geo4/media/index.asp]
its about time we stop hitting on each other and find some solutions.. but hey, i know it's pretty idealistic and won't happen anytime soon.
hmm, i agree, but.. it has come to this with this latest system.
I guess the editors were tired of being blamed so now, the content is what most people want to see. Trying to find the balance?
this business model has something going on for it. i never bought as much music as when i was spending on this site. too bad no label understands good and fair pricing. plus, the possibility of choosing your file format was a nice touch(ogg, etc)
i hope they get out of this situation. imagine how much people would spend on music if it was that cheap everywhere. at 10 a song, whats better? to download it illegally and get a good compression if you are lucky, or choose it yourself in the file format you want?...
I was taught to protect my ideas too(university of quebec), and, you know after hearing all those things about IPs being stolen, concepts being slightly modified by other people to make em theirs.. i understand the point of it. And guess what, a lot of teachers in universities comes from private companies or are self-employed. So there you have the culture of protecting your IPS.
As for myself, i was taugh to be careful with ideas and copyrights. I wasnt told to put a copyright on every damn thought. I think this article tries to 'accuse' more than really giving insight to the root of the problem. It denounces something, but doesn't provide any solution.
"Funding cutbacks and a more commercialized culture have seen government, the private sector and university administrators gravitating to the notion of knowledge and creativity as saleable products, Jones said."... Obviously.
Haha, so they just figured it out? Wow. Or is this more of a way to dodge some part of the trouble they created themselves?
On this i salute Id Software, who are gladly sharing their work to everyone. If every company was confident in itself to do just that, it would profit everybody.
Incredibly well put. For a nation who claims freedom of speech amongst other things, how could they approve something like this?? Violence is hard to define properly. It is all relative/subjective! Birth itself is an act of violence, should we ban it on video? Our first breath is PAIN, when going out of the womb. How about the suffering of the woman who gives birth?
If we pause a second and think about violence.. in its many forms. How could this law ever passed? So what about it being filmed? I'm all for violence and its many learning purposes. I don't endorse violence for violence's sake!
I wonder why France did that. A country, for many an intellectuallism haven, coming down to this.
'lol'
Using Openoffice heavily at the job.. the only problems we've got so far, are the bugs with the conversion of file formats. Not to mention, the lame rtf formatting that we use 'extensively' with our exchange server(was meant to work with MS Office anyway). Of course, this is 'expected'.. Until the administrators figure out how to implement something better. But for any other tasks, it does the job while saving a lot of $$.
Less conviviality doesn't mean a less effective employee, i think it encourages people to think a little more.
One of my friend recently went to Europe, relying on that...
To her deception in fact, few honored that promise and she actually had to sleep in hotels. And that, in many countries.
The idea is all good and fun but so far, has not made its proofs yet; i would not rely on that myself and would be more enclined to pay to sleep, like i actually did in Italy and France.
Getting into trouble and into the unexpected is not my idea of fun for my holidays.
You know i was impressed by it too. But then, i was very much impressed when i bought my 400$ Voodoo 2 card and played Quake 2 at 800*600!
You can't stop this! Somehow, graphics improvements are good too in games. My guess is that you need to upgrade, but you can't.
Opera 9 (http://www.opera-usb.com/operausben.htm),
Openoffice,
and i carry everything projects i make with delphi.
So everywhere i go, i've got my bookmarks, my.doc(s),.xls(s) and other related files.
oh, and music of course..
lol i even got fallout2 on it for a quick escape into the wastelands:)
The use of Firefox is heavily recommended and promoted where i work, and this is true worldwide for every franchise of the company. We use online databases extensively all day long. Somes uses Opera too, but no one is using IE, really. The vast majority of people are now using Firefox, and i don't see that changing, even with the IE7 beta 3 and the eventual final release.
Perhaps this is just a trend, but thats a good sign of Firefox's ever growing popularity, even if other alternatives like Opera seems a better choice to me, for performance's sake!
Wtf? anyway, whats up with this story. Why is it worth mentioning this here? I don't understand why this should be relevant to post the fact that some scientists are having a buzz over some volcano's frequences. There sure must be some better stories to tell right now.
Getting mainstream i suppose. Must help with the sponsoring:D
You probably don't know much about the borland product line nowadays. To say that and being modded funny, i guess a lot of people don't have a clue of what Borland have been doing for the past few years..
This guy is just saying what every gamer with a clue knows already. I think it is good to rant about this because he has a good point: those web reviews sites don't wanna lose their jobs. So they play along with the devs, not the people.
Theres really good reviews sites out there that needs to be discovered. Unfortunately, peeple don't visit them because those site don't have the 'privileges' other prostitutes sites have(screenshots, gameplay info, interviews and whatnot).
I,m just glad i read a lot of stuff before buying game, otherwise, man i would be soooo fooled.
Yeah, thats personnally what i want. If those distributions could unite, at least agree on some standards, it would probably evolve faster anyway, they could work together towards the same goal, at least work on some standards. And please, do something about games. As long as linux does not support games better than this, it is going to fail with a lot of potential users.
I would be the first to switch over to linux if i could run the games i buy, if i didnt have to seek the good rpm packages for my distribution, if i didnt have to look up for 50 files to satisfy the dependencies before installing, compiling my programs. At least for me, linux is not there yet. I'm not too fond of over-complexity when the same simple thing can be done in no time on another OS.
And to complete my little rant, i don't want to tell myself, 'oh its free so shut up'. If the process of operating this linux OS could be made simpler, i'd like to switch over. But right now it is made for a very tech savvy public, and life is too short for wasting any time.
When the time comes, i'll make the move, and i think Dell is not wrong at all in their claims here.
I'm using opera for as long as i can remember, and never had any problems on yahoo pages, and believe me, i use yahoo pages extensively.
I just don't see what you are talking about here!
It would have to be Fallout2, this game is rich with popular culture and the combat system really works for me.
Also, both Deus ex titles on realistic difficulty(otherwise, you dont really need your augmentations).
And third would be total annihilation, massive carnage on metal maps with friends.
I received less than 10 spam mails a day during the last year, and that is a big improvement over the previous years, i could receive something like 30-50 a day in my hotmail account alone. With my yahoomail account, almost no spam since i susbscribed(~3 years) it stayed the same.
So hmm, it has been improved greatly i would say.

hahaha, godwin's law. nice. He loses.

Games can also heal "Daikatana" wounds.. Ok, that was too easy.. I know, i know i have no excuses...
I dont care about Jessica Simpson but it could just lead to more artists being distributed in non-drm format... and that is GOOD!
Oh my, did he really tried the browser? There is themes, skins and a favorite button in Opera 9! WTF?

Canada is indeed cheaper, i pay 30$/month cdn for a 3.5mbps connection. And it is not the best available.
hmm offtopic? then what is 'on topic'. You tell me...
