  1. Re:Android on Best Phone For a Wi-Fi-Only Location? · · Score: 1

    I've had good luck with gizmo5+GVoice on my moto droid v1 running Linphone. Silly to have a smartyphone w/o service some might say, however it is a completely free solution while on wifi. Good enough for now. I can't comment on Sipdroid or others, but plan to explore all the free solutions. Nice to have options.

    actually, I think laughing gas lowers combustion chamber temps in most engines, due to the evaporation of liquid N2O as air enters the engine. perhaps this O/C is more like running high boost on a turbocharged engine, the higher the boost, the sooner the mechanical failure. and the Pentium D has no wastegate (;

  5. Re:Made by Clevo on Review of WidowPC Sting 917 Gaming Laptop · · Score: 1

    I've owned the previous model, the Clevo 'D870p' I believe [also sager, prostar, etc...] It was a beast of a machine, but the build quality was disappointing for a high-end laptop. battery life was a joke with a P4 3.2, and the fans were loud and annoying. I bought it on ebay, resold at a profit a few months later, so I suppose I can't complain too much... : ) I would like to see a powerhouse barebone built on upcoming Pentium M or Turion low-power processors -- until then I'll hang on to my inspiron 9300

    definitely recommend this compilation over about five others I've tried in the past. [IMHO] the variety of programs and monthly updates make it the most useful.

  7. Re:Similar question...OHP + LCD panel = ghetto on Video Projector for Home Theater? · · Score: 1

    I know since I've been using this setup for a few months. Parts purchased from ebay

    dukane 4000 lumen projector - $90
    nview z350 svga lcd panel - $260

    $10 420w FXL halogen bulbs claim to be good for 50 hours, but I've been getting 80+ hours at the lower brightness setting on the ohp. I project onto a textured white wall at about 140" diagonally; dvds look almost good in a dark room. ;) It's bulky and ugly, but hey it's cheap. And deep-down, everyone wants a ghetto projector...

    well unless you are one of us poor kids trying to scrape together a box out of your pt job earnings, as i was (still am) about a year ago when the comparison of price/performance from a duron to any available athlon was pretty favorable. I've been using the same box since then: duron 650@866
    when building a value machine, esp. for most of us on a budget, as little as $20 does make a difference.
