That is YOU polishing YOUR music. Not a group of unrelated execs and and techs tweaking everything to make it sound as though you had talent to go with your pretty face. (It is pretty right? if not you will never get that number one single you a re dreaming of). This "musical vision" you speak of is probably why you dont have a number 1.
Playing in front of people is not art
And, I think that they call that "PERFORMANCE ART".
Okay, now I will take the flamebait hit. What are you, Swedish or a Moronian? When the parent post is THAT far off that it makes no sense, you should consider that it might be a joke. Maybe?
Thank about it.
"but just because a product is better, does not mean it will be successful"
This has, of course, been shown to ba a fact since the beginning of software. If Windows had came preinstalled and marketed with Opera over the last couple of years, we would all be fighting against the evil opera empire. It is about marketing and status quoe.
" Is it just me or isn't this a bit of a coop for linux."
While stories like this are still interesting, I am not sure that it is really a coop anymore. In '96 I would have been forwarding this story to everyone I knew, but Linux is all grown up now. Hell, Linux runs some of the biggest computers in the world these days. Slobbering over stories like this is a lot like getting all excited when your 11 year old kid is able to dress himself when he has already been doing it for 9 years...
While it is good news for Novell and Suse, it should be expected that an extremely adept and profit driven company like McDonalds would see that Linux IS the full meal deal.
If we consider the fact that writing is never a neutral endeavor, then he is trying to sell something. He is trying to sell his idea and insight. At one time, a couple of hundred years ago a few people tried to sell the idea of open (free) capitolism, and it worked. The argument on open source is not just about whose operating system supports the most digital camera's. It is an attempt to convince the world that there may be a better method than the one that exists. It is NOT an attempt to overthrow the capitolist system, but a way to improve the current system through open standards.
Maybe you should chill just a little, think of what it is you need in a program and think of the best way to make it happen. If yu can not get a mechanic to fix your toyota the way that you want it, then you have to be resourceful and learn about cars so that you can make it happen yourself. If that is beyond you, maybe your neighbor knows a little and can help out. You have to be resourceful.
If you are having problems, and you want to make gaim work the way that you want, there are a ton of resources out there. So what if you can't program? Ask me and I will help. I am pretty damn good at that stuff. There is no need to direct so much anger at the world; it is a beautiful place.
The beauty of open source is that we can fix any problem that we want too. With other product, you are stuck. In fact, if you pulled the hood off you MSN messenger, like the toyota, and tried to modify it, you could go to jail.
Maybe you don't need to talk to anyone that uses MSN and they, being much wiser than the rest of us knew this already. BTW complainer, what have you contributed lately?..
Are you missing the entire point of post? It is open source, you don't have to wrestle control from anyone. Just take it, fix it and use it. If your changes are useful, they will make it back into the product, or you can start your own fork.
Telnetting into a dead badger can be EXTREMELY insecure and compromise your entire system! You should only use a secure shell when logging onto mid-sized angry reanimated mammals.
This is not true either. If you distribute your software FOR MONEY, that is when you have to pay Troll Tech. You can write all the closed source applications you want, Troll Tech doesn't care. You can give them away, if you want. It is when you sell the app, open or closed, that you have to pay.
Come on people, let's think in terms of free beer here.
That is not entirely true either. If that were the case, there would be NO commercial software on linux, because everything uses the kernel. You can call on the services (think modular) of any GPL software without having to open your source, you just can't put the GPL code in your package. Again, think modular.
If Dean makes the primaries, your option would be to vote for a person who sent thousands of Americans to die in a desert based on intelligence he KNEW was flawed, all for the sake of a grudge match. Is that the kind of stability you are looking for?
Though I remain an ardent supporter, Dr dean poses an ineffective solution. Families and villages have been raising children for many of thousands of years without 'enforcement by governing bodies' and it works out fine. We have progressed and evolved under this non-zero summed game. It is the natural way of things to take care of themselves.
I repeat, we have made near constant progress. Why do we suddenly feel that government must be responsible for keeping our youth off of porn? It does not make sense.
But as I implied, we are all human and we all progress together. Howard Dean is no different. I have had views as my past self that my present self does not agree with. I suspect that the same is true with Dr Dean.
" You can do work on a computer without a fast Internet connection for just about every type of computer science research."
Yes, you can also have sex without anyone else in the room, but it not nearly as enjoyable. In factr, it can be downright frustrating.
I got my highsepped about 1/2 way through and it made a big difference.

well...
"Every person/company who has ever made a website has said this."
Except those with enough foresite and originality to be the first.
hmm..
Whats with mentioning all the good bands? Or did i miss the point because I am drunk?
ONe did. Baby Jacko.

Yes, Use the line in:
Open kmix, go to the "Input" tab and select the input line device as you capture device.
Whats more: perhaps we should not talk so much about making 'mp3's' from the wav when ogg files are much less losey and much more free.

"It's not like this going to show up in a shipping product"
Are YOU crazy? "TODO" items must be like 98% of their code base. Here is a sample of their kernel that I yanked off the internet:
int main(){
TODO: WinFS
TODO: Trusted Computing
TODO: Network Security
TODO: Usable Kernel
bsod();
exit(-1);
}

Thank you for your ear.

Yes, they paid the built in sticker price for the OEM version, then they paid for the site license.
Same thing happens at my university, order from Dell, shipped w/ OEM license.
Why? Because people don't think...

I just did the exact same thing! I, like this man, am 'worried' too. ..

Duh.
What do you know about that happy crappy? Someone from Gnome using outdated tech? How about that, wel wonders never cease... ...

mod this up. It is not offtopic, no matter how much we all want to bitch about M$
NO, staying with the defunct closed door model of the X11 core team would have been to downfall of Linux.

This should be posted on it own headline.
At least you noticed our virtues! So often people like you tend to miss the value and beauty of productive people like us. Troll.
