Really it looks like they have attempted to improve the interface, bringing common tasks that where hidden several menus down to the top.
On the other hand the interface looks so alien to the old one I can see this being a support nightmare for large companies where some users have not mastered using the left mouse button yet, let alone understand anything other than picking the menus they where shown long ago and repeating..
Funny, I also get a popup notification in the lower right of the screen with the text "New Updates are available" when the indicator appears in the tool bar.
Despite the articles claim that the game is now in great shape it is clear that there a still serious performance problems that have yet to be addressed.
Several months back it was announced that a fix for LAG in Iron Forge was in the works, now many months have gone past and my friend who still has an active account still experiences huge lag in this zone and the auction house. I remember this issue appearing as I an many others present at launch progressed to quests in that zone. Is there a major fix in the works?
Even though the game is designed for mass conflict, it appears that the combined fan bases of penny-arcade.com and pvponline.com have been able to fill a new server and full scale conflicts have already resulted in crashing clients or worse, as well as the dreaded queues. What is being done to resolve these kinds of issues, what is the maximum capacity of a single realm / zone?
That only works because the host hardware is consitant. With a PC you never know what Video hardware sound card or even how fast the harddrive on the host system will be.
Console developers can code around hardware constants, PC game developers can't without a host OS to handle all the in between hardware stuff.
And using linux on a bootable disk would take us back to the days of dos where only a specific set of drivers where included and if you didn't have that hardware you got no sound or where screwed.
Parent should get one more Informative for actually mentioning that the difference is the dual-channel memory support.
Going with that 939 boards support almost all the chips that need dual channel support such as the higher end AMD 64s, AMD 64 X2 (dual core) and the FX and Opteron chips.
Too bad that at LinuxTag 2005 all you will get to see is a looped video on running "real time" on "similar hardware" simulating the great development advanced you will be able to achieve with the new cell processor.
Maybe the old man face and duck in water tech demos from the PS2 will also appear.. Did any PS2 game ever look as good as sonys techdemos?
Poor Black levels are most likely the result of a poor back lite.. Most of the mid to higher end LCDs don't have this problem. The bargin bin ones on the other hand are so bad you can sometimes see the light shining in on the sides in a cone pattern..
Nope, they also don't understand that AMDs onboard memory controls where designed for this type of application. The AMD X2 chips are a very efficent design.. The intel Design has many week points and seems rushed.
512MB is the magic number for XP, you will notice application load time and general responsiveness increase.
Although Windows XP will free memory if you have less than 512MB to give some to apps.. It simply will not hog more thatn 256MB, so you really start to see the system go after you break 256MB.
Might not mater if Sony is slow to release an API and good devloper tools for the hardware. Or crippled the system with low amounts of ram.
Notice how much better Xbox games looked than the currnet PS2 games? Ever read how frustrated the devlopers of the top PS2 games where that they had to jump through hoops to make use of the PS2 hardware?
I have only been using it for about 6 months and in that time the only change I have seen is that the contact manager became much more detailed. Allowing more than one address per contact as well as several custom fields.
They also added pop3 support.
Define forever and how long it should take to roll new features out to the public using the proper development cycle of design, coding, testing and release?
Shaw Extreme its currently unmonitored in my area.. According to what I have heard they are not finished upgrading their routers and are unable to monitor bandwidth on a per client basis in my area.
The New DOCSIS hardware they have is great, blows away Telus ADSL in terms of speed.
The thing with crash mode is that its a puzzle game. You must hit a target damage total and some of the tracks are setup to miss lead you as too what the best direction is.
(For example, look at DOOM 3's light, and then look at HL2's. There are areas that remain completely dark in HL2.)
Wait? What part of Doom was has light.. The whole game seemed to be about stumbling around in the dark with a flash light that could not be used at the same time as my gun, while demons popped out of impossible hidden closest every time I picked up ammo or health.
The time from launch, to balancing server load is not instant.
Considering this game has broken nearly every record its a wonder there servers are even running.
I play on a high population server but not on one of the super over crowded PVP ones. I haven't seen a login queue other than the first week and the lag is only bad in zones like Ironforge.
No one will pay to have ALL of their software replaced for a new system. So we have to wait for a better system that can run or emulate the old system at full speed.
Some companies still use Office 97 and have workstations running 9X because they have built whole systems and custom applications around them and have compatibility issues with anything else.
I don't see it as a big issue, Itanium has always been targeted as a special use chip for servers and clusters, thats the only place that they have been selling. MS is wise to drop a desktop version of the os that would have met a non existent marked.. Instead MS can now focus on the AMD64 / Intel 64 hybrid version which is where the high end desktop market is more-likely to see growth.
I think linux and win 2003 server will share the server market.

Really if you are going to take only text as input and output is going to be serial text, speech (blind but not deaf), braille CLI is the way to go.
This does not prevent you from multi tasking BTW, it simply means that you need to work within a well defined context.
Nothing new to invent.

Thanks for the up to date screen shots.. I hadn't seen the absolute final generation games for PS2....
But why does sony make it so hard for developers to make great looking games on their hardware?
How long into the systems life to you have to go before you are releasing the intended level of detail?
MS is demoing working titles on hardware that is LESS powerfull that the final product where sony is demoing, um demos of what they think it can do.

Yes, and you have anti-virus software, your email client and many other things multi-tasking.
HardOCP pointed out that ther was a noticable multi-tasking difference with Intel HT processors vs AMD single core processors.
They also noted that the same benifits can now be seen in the AMD X2 processors but to a much greater degree.
Encoding a movie to Divx will still take long time, but you can now smothly play a game or perform other tasks while it works in the background.

They still out perform Intels chips by price, the problem is the preceved Mhz diffence is even larger now.

Microsoft has a huge war chest of cash.. resources are not an issue.
They simply don't NEED to produce a better or much better browser since IE still holds most of the market.
Making a stand alone product would do them no good as well, since they already forced browsers to be free they can't go back to charging for them now.
Isn't that where an Imap account or web / gmail would work well?

Wow thats seems expensive..
I have 5000kbps down and 1000kbps up for about $60 CAN per month and a currently unenforced bandwidth limit..
It's one think to pre record your own work and act it out live. It's another when you have two models out there faking it up to someone elses work.
